Reveal: Tamiya 1/35 Hanomag Sdkfz251/1

Post by alextheblue »

Snagged this kit from my local Hobbycraft. Funds were a bit tight at the time, so it made sense financially. Also, it brought back memories of drooling over it in Beatties (remember them!!).

The kit isn't much younger than me, but unlike yours truly, it has actually aged quite well. The accuracy isn't great and it is a bit light on details. Oh, and the least said about the tracks the better. But, for all of that, it was a breeze to build. No major fit issues and with a little patience and perseverance, it builds to quite an acceptable model. Someone with better skills than me could really get a good result.

So, on to the pics. My least favourite part of the hobby. I can never be bothered to get my DSLR set up and wherever I go in my house, it always seems dark and gloomy. Well, it does in the pictures anyway. Hey-ho! I'm a modeller not a photographer!

Hey!! Who said my pictures are actually better than my models!!

As always, a massive thank you to everyone who took a peek, left a comment and left words of encouragement. It's what makes ISM such a fantastic place! :th: :cheers2:

Great job with a kit that is showing its age, you've created a nice scenario with the figures too!

Tamiya would be proud of this...well done.
Those tracks do look tight. I think mine definitely must have shrunk with time.

Nice kit and dio mate. Its nice to see a Jerry vehicle in the early grey scheme.

what did you use for the grass? Was it some sort of grass mat?
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Fantastic work and a gorgeous result!

The weathering is top notch and I really like the diorama with the meadow and the figures just disembarking from the vehicle. Excellent! :thumb2:
