The Plan
As you can see i tried to build this kit a couple of years ago but messed it up and i needed so inspiration to get it started again so here we go.
I thought of doing some battle damage (if i can will be the 1st time) ie bullet holes and what have you but also if i can with the paint striped of as if it as flown through an explosion but we will see if i get that far with it.
Ill be starting it soon after i have finished the two im doing now (hopefully should be finished by end of next week)

Nige, I really hate to be the bad guy and bearer of bad news, but to qualify for the group build the kits needs to be unstarted ie a new kit, really sorry buddy, so im gonna move this to the works in progress gallery.

its not a prob Paul its been sat like that for about 1 1/2 years so the GB was a kick up the back side to get it done LOL.
Any way i have more time to get it done and try and do it justice.
Dose any one know any inter-web links for reference im got a few books and getting some more from the library more but could do with some more.

The daft thing is that I've nearly finish a mustang III and a fw 190 a3 that I started about a month ago if I knew I would have saved one lol. But never mind it gives me reason to go out and buy something now lol.

Ahh, its like deja vu in here! I built the very same kit, but ultimately wasn't happy with the paint job, it was grainy, and the oil wash didn't work well. So she took a bath in the fairy power spray, which resulted in parts getting broken.

So I had to do a bit clean up and repair job on mine as well. I went with the grey underside and the green/grey camo upper in the end. I am waiting on a replacement canopy to finish mine off.

As for battle damage, look at reference pics online of flak shrapnel damage etc, often such things made many small, ragged holes. One tip is to use a dremel or such to thin out the plastic where you want to add the damage, as bear in mind that in reality the aircraft skin is very thin aluminium, not the out of scale plastic we have. Also remember that most of the wing, and the fuselage of the Mossie was made from plywood, which will have a different effect when damaged to aluminium.

Thanks for advice mate I seen some battle damage on a mossie were the "bullit/cannons were just round but with burnt marks round it. I'm hoping to to the tail fin with tin balding trays as these were aluminium ribs with canvas over it so hoping to show just the ribs with the canvas burnt away. Also with the paint burnt down to the cotton dope that goes over the wood and in some places showing the silver paint over the dope then the cam. But we will see if my skills are upto it.
