Hello from Western Washington, USA

Post by AlbertD »

HI everyone. I've been looking around and like it here. It looks like a great bunch of people and I look forward to getting more involved.

Like many of you I was a modeller in my youth and set it aside for a 37 year career as a civilian working for the US Navy. I worked on explosives safety at a large submarine base and really enjoyed it. I retired pretty young do to some health issues. My last couple of years the workload let me work pretty much unlimited overtime so I worked what I was able to help plan or retirement.

One of the things I did was build a model stash along with tools and supplies. Now I'm able to spend most days on the workbech. I refuse to watch TV during the day. I need to be doing something with my hand's and mind.

My main interest is aircraft. I don't have one era that I build. I like from WWI to modern jets. If I like the plane I'll build it. I also have a few ships in the stash and just finished an HMS Dreadnought in 1/350 as a gift to a good friend and enjoyed it.

Thanks for letting me ramble on. I don't have anyone in person to talk modeling with so you guys are it.

Al

Greetings Sir

Welcome to the forum. Get stuck in with your builds and posting on other people's stuff. Its all good here and even the banter's SFW (mostly :shifty: ).

:welcome:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

:welcome: to the forum Al.

Pull up a chair and relax, crack a beer and chill. Don't forget there's a great Youtube channel: ISM Youtube, a great Facebook site: International Scale Modeller a live show on Friday nights with great laughs, tips and hints and even free prize draws: ISM Friday Night Live at the Bench and if you have a webcam there's off-air hangouts where you can join live which I thoroughly recommend for those long winter nights: Off Air Hangout Group (you will need to message Paul for a line).

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I plan to be a pretty active member. It's always great to have people of a like mind to chat with. I'll get into the swing of things pretty quick and sharing some of my stuff. It's not up to the standards of some of the builds I see but we all start somewhere.
