Miniart 1/35 T54-2 Soviet Medium Tank

Post by Tat2bhoy »

My build for the ISM 2019 Track and Wings GB is finally finished,
It’s been a build that has tested me, made me want to stop building it and putting it back in the box, almost sapped my mojo, but, I kept on preserving and started to enjoy it again.

It was my first Miniart kit that I’ve built, would I build one again, most probably, but I would go into it knowing what to expect and be in the right frame of mind to build one.
There were a few issues that I had with it, all those track links that I got out of the way first, the working suspension that I managed to glue together so it wouldn’t work, and the amount of parts of the various pipes and hand rails that were joined to the sprues which I replaced with brass rod, much easier in my opinion.

Once I finished the build part the painting and weathering made it enjoyable and builds into a very nice model.
There’s wasn’t a great choice of paint schemes for it, but I’m sure a winter camo scheme would look great on it.
It’s not a kit I would recommend to a complete beginner, but would definitely recommend to someone with some experience in model building.
Thanks for all the comments during the build they really help to keep going when it gets a bit tough :thumb1:

Looks absolutely fantastic bud! Not just saying that because I'm biased toward Soviet armor either  :thumb1:

Enjoyed watching this build greatly :cheers2:
