I made the Tyrrell 003 in 1/12 as a teenager and had the same problem. A few years later the car got damaged mums over zealous hovering the whole rear of the car came a drift. On reassembling it, I noticed I'd assembled the wing up side down, which looked correct but the slots wouldn't line up.

Not saying it's the same with this kit as I've not built it. I'm assuming the rear wing is similar i.e. two horizontal parts and a couple of ends, the lower horizontal with slots in. This part was on mine up side down it still looked correct and the ends fitted, but it wouldn't line up  As a teenager I just glued it.

Worth a look :th:

Well I’m not going to dwell on the rear wing debacle any longer (definitely Tamiyas fault, couldn’t possibly be mine )

I’ve been tinkering tonight, put the PE harness together, fiddly but enjoyable and obviously a huge improvement on what the base kit provides in the way of belts (ZERO!)

I butchered some holes in the seat in my nice shiny paintwork :eeek: , don't worry, it does get better!:

Looks good fitted, excuse the MANY greasy fingerprints, these are easily wiped off:

And barring a clean up and some very minor finishing touches before a proper photo shoot, I’m calling it done now:

Reveal pics to follow in due course.

Thanks everyone for following along and the words of encouragement, I hope my friends Dad would’ve liked it, this ones for you Nige!

Nice job Gary.... I built this kit when it was first released and at that time did not have the skillset to get what I wanted in a finished product. I see that you really excelled in making this look outstanding.

I have this in 1/12 that will get done some day, but until then I will marvel at yours...

Thanks Ben, I really appreciate the kind words! It's definitely not one of Tamiya's easiest kits and is showing it's age now, I'm looking forward to my next build which is modern Tamiya so I'm hoping it will be a bit more forgiving.

I'd LOVE to tackle the 1/12th version of this car one day, I have actually been looking on eBay for one to come up at the right price.
