1/24 Revell 2016 C7R #4

Post by tomabromaitis »

Here it is. First model car as an adult and it's been more than a decade! Don't look too closely and the result wasn't half bad. I was surprised how much harder I found this than the couple of armour kits I've done since getting into the hobby. These car modelers are no joke!

Had a few fitment issues. The body was warped from the box and perhaps I should have done something to deal with it early on. The glass didn't quiiiite go in as it should which made the body shell sit a little higher than I'd have liked. Missed a seam line on the front corners but by the time I noticed... there was no going back!

Overall had a good time. Rattle can Testors enamel (never again) and a coat of Future (Pledge). No real complaints since it's hard to spray here in cold WI and I'm airbrush-less!

Call it "good practice"! Hah! Thanks for looking!

Appreciate it! And... updated with slightly better photos.

The Jag is being built currently. I should get a build thread going...

Yes, def get a build thread going - I'm building a Nissan R91C GTP car right now (slow roll though) and my next build will be the Corvette you just built. :thumb1: I'm gonna use the airbrush I just got on the Nissan. :o Haha, so we'll see how THAT goes. . .

btw, I'm loving your C7R - looks mean! In a good way.
(and always ADD photos - the mo'photos the mo'betta! :cheers2: )

Also, @tomabromaitis did you see jmurph's C7R - he went BLUE with his? Unique.

Did see the blue! Excellent work even if it is sacrilege!

My advice for the C7R... if you have any fit issues with the glass... cut the rear window off and fit it separately. I wish I would have. There isn't much/any clearance between the roll cage and glass.

Thanks guys! I do wonder if guys usually buff or polish their future clears. Wasn't sure if I should. This one turned out pretty okay but I have another that went over a flat top coat that seems to have a good bit of orange peel. Would one normally sand a flat automotive paint/top coat?

This is fantastic work :thumb2:
Far better than I did with brush and spray can technology

Keep at it, watch lots of videos, do different and ask questions. You will find what you like as subjects.
As your skills increase you will push yourself into airbrush spraybooth territory very quickly
Have Fun!

Awesome work here Dude! Lovely build and I will admit the fit of the body is lousy. I fought the final fit on mine trying to get the chassis to sit right. It wants to pop up. I cannot remember what I ended up filing off to make mine fit. Yup I am the one who painted mine blue :), but not a big fan of yellow

I could have likely done more but I wasn't willing to chop up the roll cage. Live and learn! Your blue is nice. No doubt!
