1/24 Italeri Volvo F16 Globetrotter

Hi guys, took on a bit of a challenge in my eyes as this is only the second kit I'll of built other than war-gaming models!

My own lorry is a Version 3 Volvo FH13 500 6x2, but there only seems to be kits for Version 2's and 4's, so I picked up the granddaddy to practice on!

So I decided I wanted to take a bit more time with this kit than the first one I built, a 1/24 skyline, having rushed through it as I think I was more excited to see the finished product than enjoy the modelling itself!

I only have a few images so far, but any C&C would be much appreciated! Currently I only have a few basic modelling paints and a selection of craft paints, but I'm well aware of the low pigment ratio in them, but I'm getting by with them at the minute! And a few rattle cans, overall I'm going for a dark green cab and a red chassis

Looks great so far, I really want to build one of these Italeri trucks, my old man was a trucker so they have always been close to my heart.

Cheers pal, It's teaching me a lot and being an older truck for me is a bit of an advantage as I don't think a super gloss finish would suit the finish of the truck overall.

I'm sure your father would have plenty of stories to tell, from back when trucking was trucking! Personally as a lowloader man, I hate seeing fridge queens, their trucks are beautiful, but their hands never get dirty!

But in regards to the Buckie, go hard, or go home

Your doing pretty good and getting some nice textures on the engine ect, the red on the chassis may be off unless you have seen that used. Think what looks right rather than trying to get close also throwing a wash or mud at it can change the color and texture of something. Its all a big experiment but so far your doing good and well done.

I'm rocking with the idea that this unit will of had a refurb at some point in it's life, all too common in the lorry world is to have the frame painted, they see a lot of abuse

Small update, but getting the fifth wheel on felt like huge progress for me, even though it was just two parts, it just felt like it was starting to look more like a truck than an engine in a frame! Finished a few more steps from the instructions and fitted the suzy catwalk
