Tamiya Tiger 1 Late

This is a rebox of the original 1989 Tigger, it had been started by someone (a little more than I expected) but theres still enough to do. This version comes with Magic type tracks except theres nothing magic about them, solid horns and 6 ejector pin marks per link. It does however have the markings for up to 12 different Tigers as well as cammo call out and a set of Aces figures.

so this is how it arrived, it wasnt apparent from the evilbay pictures that it already had the start of zimm as that was in part the point I bought it but never mind

otherwise this is the Tiger we know and errr love. I have an RB barrel and the Eduard PE set for it on the way but first I need to zim the rest.

The OKW have sworn never to let Gerhard near a Tiger again, its just too expensive!


My latest attempts at Zimmerit fun using Miliput extrafine. Unfortunately my small rollere broke on first use so I had to use the large one. I used the small stamp on the glacis to try to blend with the PE zim a bit but time will tell if its ok or a dogs dinner

Yep - I can imagine it's difficult for him to get the necessary 3rd Party, Fire & Stupidity insurance cover!

The Zim looks good to me mate, very tidy work so far

I’ve only ever tried little bits here and there when adding to PE Zim - the results were not impressive!

bit of a jump, I didnt realise so much time had passed! As before this has been a bit of a learner, all the zim except fro the front glacis around the machinegun etc and the rear plate was home made. Its way too thick but I did get better towards the end of the turret. Its a Quax hommage to Willi Frey or at least I believe the spzASS102 but I could be wrong....

It was the Trumpeter large roller all over. It should have been the small one on the hull but I broke it almost first roll

Thanks for all the kind comments. I haven't quite finished but decided to shelve it until after the Bomber + Cold War events. It is now quite dark following a wash but it doesn't really show in this light

well I started this 2 years ago and was never quite happy with it. After weathering it went very dark and I shelf of doomed it until now.... So I decided to start again

Sprayed with Ultimate primer primer ( )






followed by Vallejo Dunkelgelb primer (ghastly colour)


followed by Mission Models late Dunkelgelb


And then Real Colours Olivegrun and Rotbraun and we're back where we started.... but my spraying has got better over 2 years







Its vaguely the Willi Frey colourscheme but only vaguely

Looking good. That's some fine work on the zim. Paint is looking great; really nailed that camo. Great work.
