Tamiya 1/12 Arctic White Ducati 1199 Panigale

Post by Gavlaaar »

Well, here goes, first post on the forum and it's taken ages to get my head round the way to make a post and had to resize all my photos : πŸ˜‚
Anyway, made a start on the Panigale.
The bodywork is sprayed with a Zero Paints white and then Splash Paints Ducati Arctic White.
Rivet holes drilled out and rivets on order 😁

Yeah, only builds I've seen are red, tricolour or Senna versions.
Personally, I think the pearl white looks nicest on this bike.

Well, that's the Gravity Color 2k clear coat done and I'm super happy with the results, albeit a couple bits of ninja fluff , but that's really hard to avoid when not using a spray booth.
The pearl in the white is quite subtle but in the right light it really pops 😁😁.

Just building it straight out from the box. Was going to use the fork set, but for what I'm planning, it'll be easier to use the plastic forks.

Well, what could go wrong, has gone wrong.
Drilling the brake discs and 2 holes joined together on a few.
Then just tonight, gluing the rear fairing together, I've gone and got CA on one of the white parts.
Sanded back too far  so can't save it.

Not to worry though, I've bought the kit again on evilbay ready to start again, except not going to drill the disc brakes this time round.

Plenty to carry on with in meantime though

There is aftermarket kit set for the brakes so you can salvage that..or just make your own disk
Ca glue can be sanded and paint removed to try again another day
Don't throw out the kit, there are many other versions you can build ; Martini for one

Just buying a replacement kit as I want to get this one finished and also need to replace a decal too.
I do plan to do another, so I'll just need the upgrade set for that one for the disc brakes.

:th: Looking good and nice work despite the gremlins trying to spoil things. :thumb2:

There are two upgrade sets out there for the kit the boxed Hobby design one which I used and the bagged one that Bifford is using on his build. I am not sure if Biffords set has the chain upgrade like mine but both have the disc upgrades. :thumb2:

Went for a more matt metallic black at the bottom of the forks which is a closer colour to the ones on the bike.

This build is so good. That paint looks so smooth and the detail is amazing.
