So motorcycle build challenge ....I am in like Flynn, down with the kids, shaking and baking, smick like Mick, feeling the need for speed
Found the kit and will make her pretty much OOB as not got any goodies for her



Got the damn blue importer sticker off the box art...surprised they didn’t put it right in the middle of the box. Morons
I love seeing a stamp that says “hey you paid more for this kit b/c I am the middle man and take a cut of every Tamiya sale made in Canada”



I have been waiting over a year to use my motorcycle jig...just used it to level the wheels of the Cobra car build so far; am interested to see how it works for a bike.

Glad you are finally getting to use your MarcoMoto Design jig. I love'em. and I know, I know, strong word there - but they are just kinda cool and handy. Main thing I like about it is I'm not having to lay the bike on it's side or prop it up when I'm NOT working on it. When I'm done, it's got a nice safe and sturdy place to keep it safe until I come back to it.

And on another note, the guys (a couple of times now) have seen the jig in my pic, that I usually post for the Friday night show, and they drone on about how expensive it is and blah, blah, blah... and I get it,it is a bit excessive, but really. You guys have $6000 of kits in "stash" but this little tool is too expensive to have. Please!! Some of these modelers have "Man-Sheds" for modeling that cost who knows what...

Anyway. /rant

I am super paranoid of losing parts this way
One bump by me cat or dog and it is a nightmare
I wrote part #ers in felt on the back of them and wrote them on my pink colour sheet too.
Super nervous about this, but hoping it lets me batch paint better...I am really bad about that.

Yes, I got a good chuckle out of that!!

I was just telling my wife what a doofus I am... I'll paint something, you know, ALLLLLL the pieces that need to be black, whether they are staying black or getting a chrome or whatever after. Lo-and behold, soon as I clean the airbrush, SMACK!, right in the face, there's three parts (usually large ones) that need to be black.

My jig is the older version of marcomotoDesign.
He was a member on a modelling FB group and selling off these older ones before a new one came out; so I went for it.

Got the parts keeper on sale at HomeDepot ...they can be linked together.
Off sale they are stupid expensive

Ok so flat aluminum bucket painted
I did all parts in the instruction manual that asked for flat aluminum...and certainly missed something
It is mostly engine and a couple of hose attachments.



Future sealed the block and then some dark wash India ink



Then I painted the gold/bronze bin ...head cover and gear covers


Definitely a different way to build a kit, not that ai follow instructions step by step, but hunting through for part colours and separating things that way is different.

I gang painted all the semi gloss black.



Ultimate gloss primer on 24 parts. Some will get a second black layer of a different gloss paint and some will stay Ultimate as it is a great final paint too.
It is a weird way to do a model but I am getting more used to it.

I think Badger Stynylrez is the same stuff for us on this side of the pond.

It is the same stuff, but I usually order gloss black from Ultimate because I can never seem to find gloss black in stock anywhere. Gray, white, and matte black are not a problem to find.

I clicked on the image and went to Flickr. It's amazing what you can see when you magnify it twice. Every little part all the edges, seams, mold lines and the paint job would be all exposed. Yet I couldn't find any of that.....DAMN good job man !

Oh man that is the question you might need to sit and get comfortable to digest all this
Some major custom colour action going on here and is an mix-marriage of paint brands in many cases

I mixed a bottle of Brassy Gold for the engine TS 21+ brass mr metal 1:1
I took an extra bottle of Tamiya x-11 chrome silver added Tamiya gun metal and Tamiya clear orange to it and made up a titanium silver b/c hobby shop didn’t have titanium silver x-32 I think it is.

Engine block and Bottom exhaust: silver middle is Mr metal aluminum straight no alteration, then future seal
Ends of bottom exhaust: Goldish- champagne is a mix of Tamiya gun metal+chrome silver+TS21 gold
Gold Heads and covers: TS21 + mr colour brass 1:1
Black stuff: Ultimate primer gloss black, some areas with Ultimate grey added to re tone it

Red for fairings and tank will be the Tamiya TS spray decanted over a yellow base. I will likely 2k this.
Wheels will be Mr colour gloss black likely 2k as well
Some carbon fiber decals on the fenders

I think I have one more major colour mix to do and then it is just detail painting

You have to either get on his facebook site or ebay - sometimes Spot Model has them, but they are usually always out. MarcoMoto Designs MotoJig

This is the one I have, I offered $140 and he took that... but there are waaay more people at home right now buying crap off the inter-nets.

The moto jig is awesome for bike builds, I am totally sold. It looks flexible enough to be modified to whatever I am building
I also used it as a flat reference surface for a car build...to level the suspension and wheels


Highly recommended and it is made by a modeller

Moving long and getting the rear swing arm and chain on
I have modified the position of the jig to fit and crocodile clipped it on one side so it doesn't slide off when I am tilting it around gluing and painting
The kit goes together very smoothly though I have missed reading 'no glue' signs twice here ...had to remove the rear disk brake as I glued it and it is supposed to rotate with the rear wheel. Duh







I have some carbon fiber work to do before I finish off this section, but was lazy last night due to return to work tiredness and re-adjusting to non social benefit life

But that is how I l am and have learned not to push myself too much if I don't have the time, energy or mojo.
I love carbon fiber decals, bit just not into doing them just yet..so everything grinds to a halt

So the panels painted grey and gun metal should have been carbon, I suspected so but not to worry as they sprayed up fine with the recommended mix. Sometimes you dont have to get it all perfect to finish with a nice rendition of a subject Lesson over

Usually I can find a spot to do a seam, but tried both fender surfaces as one piece...meh got folds. Tried both twice.
Not happy with them yet so no photos. I may have to just deal with a couple wrinkles and move on

I'm trying to do the front fender as well, Scott. Frustrating!! Have ripped it off twice and then another didn't even get the brush out as it was just completely wrong.

I'm definitely learning how to NOT do it.
