I saw this Vampire in 2010 in IMW Duxford in the Conservation in Action area but the fuselage was under a cover I think. I like what you're doing keep it up. I have a family connection to De Havilland

Okay Chaps the paint is on a with gloss coat and I'm ready to apply the decals. The masking for this scheme was a pain but I feel it was worth the effort.

Started putting on the decals tonight, after the main markings get put on there will be a lot of stencils to do. This decal job might take a few days.

Superb work Matt, as you say the masking was well worth it. The demarcation is sharp and really effective and the decal,s just add to the brilliance. Nice one, cheer,s Dave.

This build has came to an abrupt end. Was putting on the wash and with my clumsy butter fingers dropped the model. There is a big crack in the fuselage and the main canopy is broke right in half. I'm beyond frustrated so I'm taking a break for a few days or weeks, I don't don't think I'm going to try another entry with this GB. Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Nooooo!
Dude that's terrible!
You aren't alone buddy. I did that myself last year wit a Hummel that I'd put something like 80 hours into. I dropped a hard hat on it.
It was sitting on top of a box that I was moving in my old apartment and it slipped off as I passed the model bench. :eeek: :bash:
Boom poofy poofy. No make fix.
Don't walk away too far. It's just one.

I'm pretty heart broken over it. One of the nicest masking and painting jobs I've did in a while but there is no saving the canopy and fixing the the big crack in the fuselage is iffy. So I'll say so long for now and maybe there will be something over in the WIP section of the forum in the next few weeks.

:eeek: Darn shame Matt.... She was a beauty for sure... # loved the orange! #
Hope you can sort of salvage it... Can you not blag a new canopy from airfix???
Not that I suggest you tell fibs or anything.... Wink wink, say no more..... :thumb1:
:liar:
Good luck with the fuselage repair dude..

How about turning it into a diorama of it crashed in a field? It would be a crying shame to bin it.
