Tamiya 1/12 '09 Yamaha YZR-M1

Post by Gavlaaar »

Following on from the Ducati, this will be my next build. With the additional fork set and carbon decal set.
This will probably take a lot longer, maybe a few months due to work commitments. I just need to try and not make any mistakes on this one for obvious reasons 😂😂

Going to be a delay in even starting this kit, sorry not sorry 😂Image
I have decided not to use Top Studio rivets on this one and use the supplied decals. I just can't afford to get ca glue on this one lol.

First game was awesome - better than TWD, imho.
Played the first one on PS3 than the remaster on PS4.
Will be picking this up, OH, and don't blame you for playing this. :cheers2:

All body parts are assembled, primed and painted in pearl white.
Got to say, these precut masks come in handy(bought from Gravity Colors)
Image
Did the masking and painted pearl blue on the front fairing.
For something that looks so straight forward, it definitely isn't 😂😂
Tiniest bit of bleed but that's hardly noticable 😄

Looking good! I quite enjoyed cutting the Tamiya masks, though it would have been nice for some precut ones!

Bit more masked and sprayed tonight.
A fair bit of bleeding though, however it can all be fixed easily or covered by decals

All blue and white parts are now masked and painted.
Things get a bit more tense knowing you can't get replacement parts for the kit.

I like to get all the body work paint, decals and clearcoat done first. Or put in other words like to get the most daunting part out of the way.

It's a decal mate. I wouldn't even contemplate attempting to airbrush it. 😂😂

Did the decal I was dreading this evening.
As I thought, the angle of the paint was off, leaving a gap.
Image
So I used some blue decal from the Lorenzo version which isn't used and patched up the gap.
This will be nearly invisible under the 2k clear.

Cheers for the compliments guys.
Last couple done for today. I thought these would be a bugger but they went down easily. Only think narking me is that it's a solid blue. This is because your expected to clear coat with Tamiya pearl TS-65, but I've used pearl paint as a base coat. Can't with them all eh lol.Image

Patience has been thoroughly tested tonight.
Two small decals to put on took 1 and a 1/2 hours!
Wouldn't line up, blew away when using the hairdryer (took ages to find) and lots of patching up. :wall:
Thats all I'm doing tonight, I've had enough 😂
