Upgrading the Revell 1/32 Hawk Ejector Seat(s)

I have just got the 1/32 Revell Red Arrows Hawk and while I am not building the aircraft yet I have been wanting a project that can use up the few minutes at the end of bench sessions and while other projects are drying. Therefore I am going to attempt my first go at upgrading an ejecion seat.

First the real thing so I remember what I'm doing.



The plastic is red so apologies if it is a bit unclear in the pics.

All I've used so far is green stuff/ sculpting putty.

Might use this as inspiration to add some detail to mine as well. I thought I had added the ejection loop, but turns out I didn't (although I have added it to two 1/72 scale seats....)

You will have noticed the kit has decals for the belts which look awful. I am awaiting the time I have some extra funds and getting hte Eduard etch belts, as they are quite complex for me to make just from Tamiya tape.

Thanks guys, yeah Gav I certainly won't be using the decal seat-belts when I can make my own

Yes and no: it is hard to see the detail but it means the kit is cheap as chips and it's also nostalgic for me as my first kits (an Airfix Gnat and Jaguar E type) where in red plastic.

When it is complete...what is the paint you intend to use?...heard so many variants on what is or is not the correct 'Red arrows red' that people use...just wondered what you have in mind.
