Photo Etch / Detail Sets

I recently got back into the hobby and never knew about Photo Etch sets until watching a YouTube video. I bought my first Eduard set for F-16 Block 50. I am loving the painstakingly detail it bring to the kit. I am still working on the F-16 but am already looking for another detail kit for my next project.

Here is my problem, I have a 1/48 A-10 Thunderbolt II by Tamiya (61028) but I am having difficulty finding an kit designed for Tamiya. My question is: will a BIG ED kit (Eduard BIG4894) designed for Hobby Boss kit work for the Tamiya without too much headache?

I hate to gamble and buy the kit, just to have nothing but problems and a ton of retro fitting. Any advice?

I can't say for certain about those kits but if you know what is in the box already for both kits that might help you.

I wanted to buy some photo etch for the Hasegawa Jaguar XJR-9 but the only set available was designed for the Tamiya. As the Tamiya had a full engine whilst the Hasegawa didn't, there would have been a load of PE parts which would have gone to waste.
Sometimes people do unboxings on YouTube - maybe check those?

Those big ed kits can have a lot of waste as some of the pe isn't as good as the plastic being 2 dimensional.

Agreed, There are several pieces I didn't use, like the PE for the sidewinders. I felt that if I couldn't detail all the missiles, it would throw off the balance.

Big Ed sets are often expensive, and that stops me to buy them. Also pe parts are too flat to substitute plastic ones. If they exist i prefer resin add ons.
