Thomas' (BOAB Models) YIR 2020

Post by BOABModels »

Thank you first of all. I've been here for around 6 months I think which is also the length of time I have been doing my YouTube channel. You folks on here have been kind, welcoming and supportive - some of you have even watched my videos! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Quite an unusual year - I had been struggling with anxiety in January and the pandemic and lockdown did not help.

Long story short, I quit teaching in the summer and currently I'm a stay at home dad. I've been training but it's also given me a lot of time to build! ๐Ÿ‘

From my first build of 2020 to my last - I built over 30 kits in the last 12 months starting with the Tamiya Impreza WRC '99 (1/24)

and ending with the Revell X-Wing fighter (1/112).

I have put a full slideshow of my 2020 builds into this short video. Please watch and let me know if you have a favourite!

Thanks! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿš™ ๐Ÿ–Œ

Sweet video! I wasn't aware that a Sith Infiltrator had ever been produced.

Super builds for 2020
Wow so prolific and NO WAY could I chose a favourite one. I donโ€™t even want to say one for missing commenting on others
We have very similar affinities to model subjects and I love you pushed yourself to do lighting and a car diorama...something I have plans for
If you get a chance, the 1/72 Bandai X Wings are an absolute marvel to build and super detailed and ready for weathering..possibly my favourite kit.

I wish you a very healthy happy and prolific 2021
:cheers2:

On, Under or near the desk

Thanks a lot! Yeah, Revell did some models of prequel ships like this and the Jedi starfighter but most of the stuff on sale I've seen now has been original trilogy stuff.

I got it for my birthday with all the paints (5 shades of grey!) and there are two tiny Darth Mauls - one inside and on the display base!

Thanks Scott. I agree and I certainly enjoyed talking about the Cobra when I was making it - fingers crossed for your one thus year!

I'm not sure I can put my finger on a favourite either but I know there are some which I would do differently given the chance again, especially the F1 cars I did early in the year.

What I have seen of the Bandai kits looks seriously good - I'd like to try one as these Revell ones are a bit too small to really get your teeth into.

I wish you a happy and healthy 2021 too! ๐Ÿ˜
