Revell Arado Ar555 1:72 (my first in 30 years)

Ok here we go then - I present to you my Revell Arado 555 in 1:72. It's been built off /on a couple of hours per week over the last 3 months. It's hand brushed, I've managed to lose the front cockpit window and top antennae (not good). It not been dry brushed and in general it's a first effort on a plane that caught my eye due to its looks, what if and generally it's strange looking wing shape. I also landed it as a bargain and I was really pleased with it.



Above is a top side view and you can see that my mottling needs worked on - but it's more difficult than I thought.



Bit more of a Sidey on view and now you can see where I've lost part of the front canopy - I'm still checking the cats fur?



Now we go underneath and you can see the broken front wheels now held on with superglue as the wheel pin was broken on the left wheel when the box/bag was opened.



Despite the lost canopy part I'm actually quite pleased with my cockpit offering and once I try putty (per ISM vid) I'll try on my next version to hide gaps.



So here she is side on and my RLM scheme was influenced by not using green as I like the strong grey / dark grey scheme. Hmm bit obvious my decal skills need work on.



To finish with here she is on her back and I'm hoping that I'll get a better underside colour mix next time round as she's a bit bright.

So thank you for looking and this is my first proper post and when I do one next I'll take on board any advice or suggestion. This effort has pushed my techie skills a bit and I just want to say thanks to the ISM team for letting me try. I really liked this kit and it's my intention to buy another one and once my skills are better developed to do it again as I don't feel I did it enough justice with this one. It's a shame as it's a really good kit to build, nice and easy, joins well and was a pleasure to build.

However it's good to get back into this hobby and all those memories of yesteryear came trouncing along and I hope to go over and recapture some of these kits that I've missed out on over the last few years.

..... Fantastic first attempt after 30 years my friend, if your worried about the finish just remember, practice will make perfect.....and the guys here will definitely encourage you with the practising.
So many SiG's and buddy builds, GB's and community spirit going on here you cannot help but feel motivated and encouraged to do more.......
I personally still haven't posted a "real" model build yet so I hope I can do as well as you have.
Keep the posts coming mate, happy modelling ...

Lovely work mate. The mottling is actually pretty good, so I wouldn't be worried about that. Good job all round there.!

I agree, great attempt at an interesting kit.

Making the same one myself which should be finished in a few days. Wimped out on the mottling and went for the other scheme.

Trying to think of what to suggest for the missing Perspex if the carpet monster does not regurgitate it's dinner other than plunge moulding, possibly someone more experienced might be able to suggest something.

Hope you enjoyed the experience and look forward to seeing more in due course.

Thank you all for kind comments and the good news is I re looked at the tips on how to post and I worked out how to make the pictures a tad smaller. So my next post should be a bit more in size.

But thanks once again and again I had an awesome weekend looking at this forum and have gleaned a lot of tips, helps and watched the tutorial vids from IMS - which are fantastic and very helpful. So well done to all who take the time and effort to make them and show them.

Very nice finished work and great brush skills with that mottled camo! And isn't always the way that you find that missing bit when you half-way through the next build!
