Tamiya 1/12 Yamaha R1M 20th Anniversary edition

Just thought I'd open this thread to set it in stone, as the Fireblade is near completion.
I discovered TB decals today and saw this set of decals they do...


I knew straight away, that would be my next build.
I've just put them on order and they should hopefully arrive just after the Fireblade is finished.
I've already got the kit in my stash, so just need to order the paints and fork set.

Decals arrived today....well, they look more like stickers


And unfortunately some are damaged

I've contacted TB decals and am awaiting a reply.
If I have no joy, I'll do the R1M as the 20th anniversary edition as originally intended.
The 3D printed exhaust arrived last week and will look great with only a tiny bit of clean up needed.

In the meantime, I've started on the Tamiya Hayabusa.

The exhaust looks great! The Hayabusa paint looks really good. I love that original silver/copper combination. I owned a 2002 black/blue one. I almost cried when I sold it.

Unfortunately, I've had no joy getting a replacement set of decals so I've got to resort to getting a refund from eBay. I don't know how to change the title of this thread so, once the Hayabusa is finished, I'll start a new thread for the 20th anniversary R1M and pop the link here.

You should be able to click edit on your post and change the title

Good choice! It was a bit finicky. Masking that in 1:1 scale on a 98 wasn't fun either, hahah

Only a small update as not done much recently. The PE disc brakes are compete also the slash cut exhaust has been assembled and painted.

Been intending to get a spray booth for some time now, so finally bit the bullet. Now just to clean up my modelling room lol and wait for my new cutting mats to arrive .

Should be getting the decals down on the bike today, so I'll post results later.

Decals done (except a couple as I want to repaint the tail fairing, no biggie). As expected the Blue Stuff decals went down a treat.

Just another small update today. Built up and painted the engine in LP-5 satin black last night. The rivets from a Top Studio set were added today. The frame was also build and painted today, but that's drying off in the spray booth.

Fortunately, they're photo etch rivets. So I just sliced off the plastic nub and super glued them on top.

Nearly completely forgot lol! Got some 2K laid down last night. Buying the spraybooth has really paid off, no tiny flecks of dust landed on the parts whilst spraying. Its the best finish I've ever got. There are another couple parts that need clear coating, but things need to be sorted with them beforehand.

Cheers buddy, I'm really pleased with it. Sorted the missing decal for one of the rear fairings now, so that will be sorted and clear coated soon.
