I had a small panic as he is white in my references, but in older movies a very obvious off white tan or beige
Then I see he had a number of colours and versions...so I am ok. Whew.

Thanks everyone for looking and commenting. Hope you enjoying this silliness :wtf:

I took out the big boy drill and made a hole through the car base and down into the wooden base.
A round stick of the the thickest clear sprue from the kit is used as an almost invisible support that anchors the car to the base

    Image

    Image

Now it won’t wiggle around or fall off
Still lots of detailing on the desert base to go and the entire engine portion of the car

SO some dummy threw out the chrome sprue with the rear tailights on them
    :wall:

I found the sprue and one taillight..very distinctive housing on a VW bug. The other is lost.
    What to do now
I don't have a 3D printer...yet. SO I went old school and made a silicone mould and made a couple resin copies
This is all dental materials I used at work. Will refine them at home, but I have saved my bacon here

Messing around with the base and detailing the kit engine
I wanted a bit for texture so some railroad ballast added and then overshot with a lighter desert yellow
It is more confluent in colour which is what I was after...thanks to Mark (Casper) for the help

Just a few bits and bobs to seal up the space as you say, spark wires as well
The air filter coils look kinda cool and I will do some metal fasteners for them when they go on
Thanks again for banging some ideas off each other about the base....helped a lot :th:
