Tamiya 1/24 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI WRC

Post by MrBowcat »

Hi guys,

In my attempt to get better at cars I ordered this from Ultimate and got cracking.

So far I have painted the body, chassis, wheels and running gear and installed the running gear in the chassis. Oh, and I also built up the roll cage.

So far no major problems, although I did have to paint the air scoop twice due to a seam I thought I had eliminated first time round.

Don't think anyone could improve on the under carriage, absolutely beautiful.

Cheers Keith. :)

I did a little bit over the weekend. All of the remaining parts were primed and the body was given a clear coat in preparation for decals. I started these last night and got a few of the big ones down.

The decals laid down nicely and seem to have conformed well, although typically for Tamiya they are a little thick.

Morning guys. :)

I spent last week cleaning up and painting the rest of the parts, so yesterday went about fitting the interior.

I also got my gloss coat down. It's not great, but better than my last attempt, and should look better after sanding and polishing.

Cheers gents. :)

Yep the belts were a steep learning curve. I realised afterwards that I should have singed the ends to avoid fraying.

Afternoon lads & ladies. :)

Getting to the end of this build now. Since my last update I have painted the window rubbers, fitted the mesh grilles, lights, camera, glass & spoiler, and the body to the chassis.

Just a few last bits to add, then it's done. :)

Calling it done, pics in the gallery.

I've decided to move straight on to another car to further improve my skills so have just ordered a Nissan Skyline R34 from Ultimate. Build to follow shortly. :)
