A quick hello :)

Just politely saying Hi to everyone. Recently decided to try my hand(s) at scale modelling because I have time on my hands and I want to see if I still have the dexterity to do a decent kit justice I've been collecting tools over the past couple of weeks but no model kits to work on yet. i.e., Stash=0. I have no special subject interest but it will be either military vehicles, aircraft or warships to start with. Never owned or used an airbrush until a few days ago and now I own two plus a fair collection of paints and a paint booth, so all ready to make a mess of something lol! I have some old models I assembled years ago so I might try re-painting those. I've watched a lot of vids on model construction and painting which both helps and hinders: the tips are helpful, the fantastic results some people get are a bit intimidating if I'm thinking of attempting to reproduce that kind of quality. Still, we all got to start somewhere, right?

Bags of good stuff on here. Ask questions, follow the builds and post your own work. Novice or expert, everyone gets treated properly here so get stuck in.

If you've got a subject you fancy, let people know. Loads of the gang will chime in with suggestions for what kit you might be best buying. We've got armour builders (iron brutes), car and bike builders (we let them in to make the neighbourhoods safer), ship builders (detail freaks), aircraft builders (who sigh at the beauty of their creations), Sci-Fi builders (get your geek on), pretty much anything you can think of.

Sounds like you're ready to go. Get that stash up to 1 mate

hello and welcome Chrislx200....strange name but who cares..I am one of the old guys on the forum and haver been model making since the age of 8 now approaching 67 so I have made a few in my time. Sounds like your going to have a lot of fun with the hobby in the future, and seem to have all the equipment to get started though some guys on here will tell you you need loads of other things to. If you have ANY questions about anything this is the right place the depth of modeling making skills on this forum is outstanding and they will all help as much as they can I have only been with the forum a short while and they are a great bunch od people...and remember us model guys have to stick together ( sorry about that ) get building and posting some pice and most of all enjoy what your building or painting (thats the one thing I am useless at ) but I love to build.

We'd love to see your work & progress but in order to post photos you will need to host them on an external site such as Flickr and then link to them from the forum. Unfortunately the forum currently doesn't have sufficient capacity or bandwidth to host directly uploaded photos.

There is a quick guide on how to use the Flickr integration on the forum ---> here

As well as the forum boards there is a really useful Modeller Toolkit available which can help with paint matching, paint thinning, glue types & a scale calculator that can be found ---> here

We'll also be running a number of group builds & special interest groups through the year so feel free to enter any of those that you like the look of.
