Tamiya 1/24 Mercedes CLK GTR

Post by WordenB »

This Original Teile version of the kit is one for decal enthusiast with patience aplenty and a tender touch! Many individual parts laid in some sort of order make up almost a complete body wrap resulting in what is, in my opinion, a most unusual but beautiful livery.
Base coat was Zero Mach Blue followed by GX100 clear then hours of flatting before Zero Diamond 2k.
The engine parts supplied are very good but cry out for a little extra so I added a few pipes and bolts etc. The original plan was to carbon the interior as well but with many, many very enjoyable hours spent already I felt it was time to call it a day on this one.

I remember this kit and you are right with the decals. It looks like you did a fantastic job on not only the body wrap but the assembly and detail painting too.

Two thumbs up!

Ben

Thank you very much, I really enjoy adding a bit of detail as long as I can locate some decent reference photos, sometimes that seems to take much longer than the modelling bit!

Thanks Luke, it is a lovely scheme made up of many interlocking decals, most having sections of the white lines that obviously need to line up exactly. There was one I had to leave until last before it became apparent how it even fitted into the puzzle. A lot of work but I would love to do another with full carbon cockpit if I ever get the chance.
