MFH 1/12 Eagle Gurney-Weslake F1

Post by Modelfreek »

Hello hello!

So this is something I’ve been staring at for a while and have wanted to get into for some time. So I decided to start
This build while waiting for paint to come for my Corsair build. Special toxic smelly stuff that can only come by boat?! :wall:
Anyway I digress. This won’t be a quick build but bear with me as it will get done but the current Corsair build will take
Priority. So a little taste of what’s to come.....

Thanks fellas!
I’m taking a lesson learned for that last Ferrari build and doing
A dry build of he entire kit befor paint and adhesive. Though from what I’ve seen of the parts so far, it’s a bit better engineered being a newer kit. Still needs some feltling but that
V12 donk is really well detailed and massive!

Ok so because the paints I’m waiting for are going to be a while, I thought I’d crack on with this beauty. Now as I said
Before, MFH recommends that you dry build (at least the major parts) the kit before glue/solder and paint and because
I ignored that advice on the 1/12 Ferrari 126 c2 build I ran into some..... let’s just say snafu’s with fit and had to go back and
Correct painted parts ect :violin:

Well not this time dear friends! Fool me once and all that.... now working with white metal and resin parts can be
Difficult because you only get one go at it so lots of incremental changes and checks for fit are a must. While the fit
Of the parts are reasonable you have to treat it like a garage kit in that almost all the parts need some kind of alteration.
And in my opinion really worth the extra work as the details are incredible with these kits as you’d be hard pressed to
Find any omitted details. So this is where we are at.......

So that’s all for now, back to fixing seams and re scribing on my Corsairs!

Oh that is gorgeous
Love the engine, looks superb.
There is something cool about building a scale car in metal that just turns my crank
Great project :thumb2:

Thanks mate! White metal yealds some fantastic that you
Just can’t get in ABS or resin however the trade off is that
You can easily obliterate detail and if you snap a part.....
Let’s just say colourful language abound as it can stop the
Entire build.

So a small update as my paints for the Corsair build have finally shown up!

So much like a real panel beater a lot of these parts have to be bent and reshaped and warping removed during
The dry building process. Making sure all gaps and seams are even is a little challenging as you have to chase down
Multiple paths to bring all elements of that part into place as invariably, when you fix one thing you ruin the fit at
The other end!

And then there is flash to fix and details to re scribe all of which conspires to warp everything........

This has to happen all over the car so it might be a while......

Looks like fun. But also a lot of work.
I was also thinking of this classic and historic car. Dont make em like that anymore. Im sure the finished model will be indistinguishable from the real thing . . .
