Arado E555 Revell 1:72 (04367)

Like routmasters, you don't see one for ages then two arrive after each other.

The Arado was being developed from April 1944 and was designed to carry a payload of 4,000 kg for 2980. A top speed of 534 mph was to be achieved from the use of 6 BWM 003A jet engines. Whilst often called the Amerika bomber, given the distance between Frankfurt to New York is around 3850 miles it would have been unsuitable for this mission.

Defensive armament would have consisted of 2 x 30mm Mk 103’s in the wing roots and two pairs of 20mm MG 150’s in two remote controlled turrets operated via a retractable periscope from the pressurised cabin.

The project was cancelled in December 1944 due to lack of resources.

So this is a “Plane that never flew” and some artistic license has been taken with the colours and scheme. It’s brush painted except for the mottling that was done using a cotton bud (Q tip). It really is a well fitting and striking kit and would recommend it to anyone looking to do something a little different.

I salute you sir, very well done and what a fantastic finish. You have captured this well and what a cracking paint job :

Thank you for posting this as it's a great inspiration for me to aspire too.

Very well done, really captures the feeling of an aircraft from this subject.

Cheers
