I started off with painting the cockpit pieces Friday night and then I got a lot of work done tonight. For the most part I'm using Mission Models paint.

I have mixed feelings about the side panels vs the instrument panel decal. I think I'm going to try and add some color the the side panels.

I was really tempted by this kit when it came out, but got scared off when I saw the decal sheet(s)!

Really looking forward to seeing how this one goes :pop:

I like to use a toothpick dipped in paint, no sweat!

After seeing the close-up shot of the instrument panel I can see how far off my alignment is! :wall:

I'm glad I started the kit and it is definitely helping me get my MOJO back!

This kit goes together like a dream! Tamiya has really done a great job of thinking how things should go together to minimize filling and sanding.

That looks stunning already - even with the scary decal sheet I'm wavering towards grabbing one of these again now.

Here's a couple shots of the latest progress.

Got some panel liner in the gear bays and added the wings. Painted the seats but they are far from finished. I just set them into the cockpit for pics.

Arms are built and the seats are also done. There's a lot of small parts to paint and build coming up. I'm hoping to get everything painted and ready before painting the aircraft.

Thanks! I really didn't have any issues with the decals. Any problems were from my handling of them, LOL! I did have to apply a few coats of decal setting solution on the tail, the nose, and the starts on the wings. I also found a loop hole for the stencils. According to Tamiya, the version that I chose was repainted when it was relocated to Miramar and they didn't reapply the stencils. I didn't bother fact-checking this since I really didn't want to spend a month applying those decals, LOL!

Thanks Y'all! I am calling this one done. I did some weathering with Tamiya panel line wash and some oil paints. Overall I am very pleased with the result. I have definitely gained a lot of confidence moving forward from this kit. I can't wait to start the next one!
