Revell/Heller 1/24 LeMans 1930 Bentley Blower

This is my project for SMW Telford in November, now that I have got most of my eye sight back, wanted to work on something reasonably chunky.
This is the old Heller kit from possibly 30 years or so ago, re- boxed, and with new decals.Despite its age the moulding is pretty good some flash, and some quiet soft details, but nothing to lose sleep over.Assembly starts with the engine block and super charger, and various pipes and hoses. I added the missing bits from brass tube and fine copper wire, to create the HT leads and other plumbing details.Scratch built the super charger mesh guard, the oil primer pump on the dash board, and the mesh headlamp guards.
Painted with Tamiya X5 dark green mixed with Tamiya Black green, and Flat black, thinned using cellulose thinner, to achieve the very Dark British Racing Green.Various metal shades from AK Intereactive and Alclad and Mr Hobby metal shades.
Scratch built the exhaust using aluminium tube and plasticard to create the Fishtail silencer.
Bit more to do but should be done hopefully in time for the IPMS nationals in a few weeks.

Now finished, for the most part a really enjoyable kit, only real issue was the fit of the windshield frame , it just did not fit anyway or anyhow, so left it off altogether, and the decals were a real strange affair, all pretty trouble free, with the exception of the Dunlop tyre decals which broke up as soon as they went in the water. I will re do the tyres when I get a tyre stencil. Just need to apply some weathering, and then its done.

When Heller and Airfix were joint owned, was the big Airfix Bentley scaled down to make this kit? Reason I ask is that the same manufacturing mistake has been made with the badge positioning on the radiator shell i.e. appears too low down.

This is a very well made model with good attention to detail and finish by the builder.
