1/32 Lancaster B Mk I/III

Post by RangerNeil »

If anyone is interested - and has a LARGE display space available - Border Models are releasing a 1/32 Lancaster with full interior just after Xmas. Apparently it will be released in small batches with long periods between batches.

That comes in at £440.20 in UK terms. I would think as well as the hefty price you are going to need a LOT of space to display it. Wing span alone is nigh on 3 times that of a Spitfire in the same scale!!

OK folks - its official!! I am in the deepest of the brownest, most smelliest, doo-doo you can possibly imagine.
Pre-ordered the Lanc from Mig-Ammo only instead of selecting paypal credit I used the direct charge - and SWMBO decided to check the bank account before I could transfer the £530 from my savings into the joint account. My ears are still ringing - but it will be worth it!!!

It will take a year to build it so definitely a longer term project and it'll need some minor upgrades I'm sure. How could you not on what would be the best kit in my stash just out of respect for the quality if for no other reason.

In case you missed the shite I got about it on the live show  about me needing my bumps felt ….I ordered one as well
        My thinking is this:
If I don’t build it I can sell it
If you don’t order now, you may not find one or will pay far more later . Pocher kits are a good example of that
I can sell things from my stash I have lost interest in if need the $
My F’ing hobby, my f’ing money, get bent those that don’t like it

I don't watch that show besides chewing up my limited data and speed problems. I find it a bit of a waste of time...3.5hrs is a long time. My words are "Damn them all and do as you want" if the wife says it's OK...
I can't fault your thinking and it may end up being a good investment. I'm  of anyone who secures one and thats not because of the aircraft more from the size and detail included. It looks very complete and will be a absolute stand out in any display.

Oh - this is going to be built (in between all the Hinds....). Only concern - other than being around long enough to finish it - is where the hell to put it! Which, funnily enough, was one of the wife's more strident demands. Apparently quoting the famous line from Babylon 5 "faith manages" was entirely the wrong answer....
I managed to mollify her a bit by telling her I am going to build it as a tribute to my Uncle Les who was a tailgunner on Wellingtons and Lancasters. Be nice if someone would release flight or ground crew figure in 1/32 by the time the kit gets released - it would make for one hell of a diorama

Apparently the size concerned the manufacturers too so the outer wings can be left off for display/transport purposes? Other than this - an excellent coffee table interior?

As some of you as already said it's on preorder in a few places. Saw it from a store I order from sometimes for 1100 $ CAN
so that's 645 in UK dollars or 875 in US.... and shipping should be quite expensive considering the size of the box. It was said it should be out for delivery to distributors by the end of February. so may be the situation with Mr Jackson as been settle.

Interesting . I looked the other day at the preorder and no update from Ammo
It will come when it comes…probably right after I order my metal lathe

That will be interesting!! When the Border Models version ships it will be good to be able to see the two for comparison. How big is the HK box? Rumour says the BM version box is the size of a small suitcase.... :)

              Hi Team !

As promised, here are the pics of my new 1/32 Mk1 Lancaster as I received it !
Yes, the size of the box and weight are considerable..
Many parts lovely detailed inside and all them separated in diverse bags.
What surprised me are the entire wing surfaces section in just one piece!
I pre assembled both parts of the fuselage section with some tape to have an impression of how big it is compared to the Tamiya´s 1/48..

Wow it's as big as a small suitcase. The panel detail on the wings is impressive and engaging as the eye looks for more.
Do you think a metal bar would be needed to stop wing sag at the wing roots and metal landing gear.
              Really nice buy...thanks for sharing.
