Revell 1/142 Northsea Fishing Trawler

Post by ManCupboardModels »

Built this for my Dad who worked on Grimsby Docks all his life (now retired). Its a Grimsby registered trawler too, the Ross Jackal.

I had to rush the weathering a bit at the end, so I could of done a better job but my Dad was well chuffed with it so that makes me happy! :th:

Build vid at the bottom of the pic.... :cheers2:

Certainly needs a re-tooling! Spent more time cleaning up the parts than puting it together. It was a white, hard plastic too which was terrible to work with. I was dreading the rigging, but it turned out to be he easiest part! Lol!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment :th: :cheers2:

Nice job! You don't see many fishing boats kitted.
This kit has been re released a few times down the years. I think it was named the Kandahar in its original issue, and there may have been another release under a different name prior to the one featured in this thread. Also, I think it may have been released once as a Russian Spy Trawler!

There is a thread on Britmodeller forum where this kit has been converted into a small steam whaler from the fifties.

I have 5 generations of trawler men on both sides of my family, I worked on Grimsby docks after leaving school and school holidays. Your father possible knows mine, Fred Morley, worked all his days down there. Nice build though, needs more rust lol.
