  2. What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?
  3. What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicle of all time?
  4. Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?

1) Because - Science Fiction! Space ships!
2) Tough one - Star Trek / Star Wars. I think both have their good and bad designs.
3) The NCC 1701 Enterprise. Original followed by refit.
4) Serenity from Firefly. Betty from Alien 4.
5) Yes.

I actually have only built a couple Sci-Fi kits! I don't consider myself a Sci-Fi nut even though I LOVE Star Wars and Star Trek.

What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?
I feel like Start Wars has a better selection, but I know there are lots of other good examples out there.

What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicle of all time?
I would have to say any sort of time machine. Time travel is the ultimate Sci-Fi fantasy, right?

Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?
Not really. Again, I am just not THAT into Sci-Fi.

Are you planning on joining this year's Summer Sci-Fi and If so, what are you building?
I actually just picked up the Enterprise D from Star Trek:TNG. I am hoping to get it built for the Summer Sci-Fi GB!

What do you like most about building Sci-Fi models? If you don't, why not?

I love the subject matter, other than that they're no different from any other kit

What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?

Star Wars for sheer diversity but they're badly let down by the current product range IMHO

What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicle of all time?

Its got to be the Millennium Falcon

Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?

A 1/35 or bigger Snowspeeder. I'm sick of looking at tiny Bandai kits that cost a fortune. I would also love to build some decent size figures but I will not touch Bandai figures because the of all the working joints and pre-colored parts. Its just my opinion but they just look like expensive posable toys to me

Are you planning on joining this year's Summer Sci-Fi and If so, what are you building?

No I'm probably not for the reasons above
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

My go:
What do you like most about building Sci-Fi models? If you don't, why not?
The escapism. Anything else has to conform to the laws of reality.

What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?
Star Wars is pretty cool but for me it has to be Babylon 5. The ships of the various races from fighters to planet killers is quite amazing - as are the various colour schemes.

What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicle of all time?
The Eagle Transporter from Space: 1999

Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?
Any of the Babylon 5 ships, in particular the EAS Agamemnon, the Narn, Minbari and Vorlon heavy cruisers.

Are you planning on joining this year's Summer Sci-Fi and If so, what are you building?
Yes. Not sure yet - got a choice of kits, others seem to want the Spectrum SPV from "Captain Scarlet".

And here I was wondering what happened to last weeks Diatribe?... did I miss it?

What do you like most about building Sci-Fi models? If you don't, why not?

I have not built very many but what I like the most about Sci-Fi has to be the imagination and variety of the subject matter. No real reason why I don't build a lot of Sci-Fi other than other models bump them in the build list or desire to build something specific. I'm not against Sci-Fi, I just have other interests and priorities.

What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?

By volume it has to be Star Wars, but Star Trek is a close second for me. Then there is Babylon-5, Battlestar Galactica, Lost in Space, the Terminator and Alien series of figures, and we can't forget the Maschinen Krieger robotic model figures in 1/35 or those by Gundam, Bandai, or even the Transformer series. I could go on, but you can see that this is a very personal question based on individual interests.

What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicles of all time?

I suppose it has to be the Star Wars X-Wing and Tie fighters. I also like the Eagle transporter from Space 1999. I can't remember the name of the series, but many years ago there was a show with animated puppets/marionettes. That had a space interceptor with a missile on the front of it. I might have been a show called UFO or Shadow something. That interceptor would be nice too in 1/32 or 1/24.

Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?

    See answer to previous question

Are you planning on joining this year's Summer Sci-Fi and If so, what are you building?

Depends on if my body heals to where I can get back to the basement to finish my IJN Tamiya 1/350 Yamato. Currently suffering from two broken feet and a broken wrist (healing well, but not ready for prime time just yet). I do have a couple Star Wars ships and figures I could get involved with if the time presents itself.

    • What do you like most about building Sci-Fi models? If you don't, why not?
I've loved sci fi since as long as I can remember, and just wanted to try & recreate the fabulous spaceships I'd seen in the movies & on TV

I remember when Star Wars first came out I tried to bodge together an X-Wing from a couple of old aircraft kits & other junk.
    • What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?
Aside from the ones already mentioned I guess some of Gerry Anderson's series were pretty cool as well with Thunderbirds & Captain Scarlet
    • What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicle of all time?
That's tough... the original Enterprise, the X-Wing, the Eagle, Liberator from Blake's 7, Serenity... I can't choose just one
    • Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?
Another vote for Serenity, but also the TIE Bomber from ESB - they've done all the other TIE variants but skipped this one
    • Are you planning on joining this year's Summer Sci-Fi and If so, what are you building?
Yes I am but not sure what I'll be building yet as I do have a few candidates so might do the same as RangerNeil and let the gallery pick for me, but I do need to finish off at least one of the other builds on the bench before I dive in.
    Cheers, Neil

Yep that was the SHADO Interceptor from UFO which was the Andersons first live action series - and the precursor to what became Space 1999.

I do have this kit in the stash but it requires a lot of work to knock into shape so won't be tackling it this time around as I'm looking for easyish builds this year :)

I suppose I should answer my own question...
    Like Most
I enjoy recreating models from favorite movies.
    Best Collection
I think I will buck the trend and go with Battlestar Galactica.
    Favorite Vehicle
This one is going to have to be a surprise...
    Missing Kit
    Serenity, unequivocally.

I did buy the 3d-printable model but haven't had the courage to spend the weeks that it will take to print them all. So, I just paid a printing service to do it for me (as in just now while making this post)!
    Participating
Yes, I hope to build two kits. One being the aforementioned "favorite," and a Moebius Mk.2 Viper.
If anyone guesses the mystery vehicle prior to me posting the build thread, I will donate $100 to M4H (or a similar charity of their choosing). I don't know when I will start it quite yet, but it will be after the Viper build.

B5 does have some great ships. It's the show that got me interested in 3D modeling and the program Lightwave. I sucked at it but still have my last version of Lightwave and the double VHS tape set of Ron Thornton building a B5 style ship!
I have the B5 station model, maybe I should go for that one this build. GreenStrawberry has a photo etch set for it (quite expensive though).

    1. What do you like most about building Sci-Fi models? If you don't, why not?

You can take a lot of liberties with the subject matter. There are basically no rules with how to build/paint the model and there aren't really any sci-fi rivet counters.

    2. What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?

Star Wars and EVE: Online. Star Wars has a lot of vehicles I love. The aesthetics are cool, they have different variations and lots of different designs. Especially if you look at the expanded universe.

EVE: Online has some very cool ships. However, they are a bit limited when it comes to total number of ships in the game. I'm a big fan of the Minmatar ships.

    3. What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicle of all time?

T-65 X-wing or the Hound from EVE: Online. At least, those are the two that come to mind today.

    4. Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?

Just about any ship from EVE: Online. A HWK-290 from Star Wars and in no particular order...

    The Ornithopter from Dune
    1/48 T-65 X-wing that doesn't cost $200+
    TIE Phantom 1/72
    Image
    TIE Bomber (from 1/72 Bandai)
    Image
    TIE Defender 1/72
    Image
Assault Gun Boat 1/72 or 1/48
    Image
    ARC-170 1/72
    Image
    Minmatar Hound any scale
    Image
Lambda Shuttle (from Bandai in 1/72)
    Image
1/72 Naboo Fighter and the other version from the show.
    Image
1/2700 Venator (from the clone wars era)
    Image
    1/72 Tantive IV
    Image
    LAAT Gunship
    Image
    V-19 Torrent
    Image

    5. Are you planning on joining this year's Summer Sci-Fi and If so, what are you building?

Yes! Though, I'll be a late start. I'm going on a work trip the first couple of weeks of June. When I get back though. I have a 1/72 Millennium Falcon I might do. I will definitely do my 1/72 B-wing and 1/144 AT-AT that has a lighting kit. I'll probably do some of the Bandai droids I have in inventory and some of the 1/12 Bandai figures I've got. Plus I have a ton of Warhammer 40k that needs to be built, plus some Age of Sigmar minis.

Ok I'm in & guessing it's probably something from the slightly more obscure side of the genre... so is it the ship from Lexx?

        1. What do you like most about building Sci-Fi models? If you don't, why not?
That the vehicles don't have to be limited by the realities of the world, imagination and creativity can drive the designs rather than boring things like "physics" and "practicality" :D
        2. What Sci-Fi universe has the best collection of vehicles?
Bit of a toss-up really. Star Wars has possibly the most extensive, definitive, and iconic collection. That said, I'm quite partial to the gamut of ships from the game Star Citizen, albeit stuck in development hell for a decade now the ships are cool plus you can walk around and inside a good number of them.

My personal favourite collecton though is from Zoids. Originally created as a line of kits with an anime spin-off or 3 to get sales rolling, it's very much like Transformers, except instead of robots in disguise as everyday vehicles, they're robots based off current and prehistoric animals. I had a couple of the toys as a kid but didn't discover some of the higher-detail model kits until a few years back, but more on that later.
        3. What is your absolute favorite Sci-Fi vehicle of all time?
Hard to pick  I always had a fascination with the TARDIS with the "bigger on the inside" bit.
        4. Is there a Sci-Fi kit that you can't find that you wish someone would make?
There's a handful, the monstrosity above naturally, but also the heli-carriers from the MCU, a couple of the ships from Star Citizen, Fallout 4's kinda-airship the Prydwen, the Red Dwarf from Red Dwarf.
        5. Are you planning on joining this year's Summer Sci-Fi and If so, what are you building?
Yes indeed. On the subject of Zoids, I'm taking a crack at this:
