I got the same sessage from Ammo:
"Your order will be prepared once the preorder items are available at warehouse, after the estimated date that appears in the preorder item detail page. Please, keep in mind that if your order contains non-preorder items, the full order will be prepared and sent once all products have real stock at the website. Contact us, if you have questions, through web orders support at info@ammo.es."

And yes - when my wife sees the size of the box she's going to have apoplexy!!! :o

Don't know about the ladies - just been advised by TNT that French Customs are being total <censoreds> and the package is being held at Marley-la-Ville whilst French Customs "seek clarification" from the Spanish Customs. My hopes of getting an undamaged package just fell drastically... :(
My experience of French Customs in the past is they are complete, utter and total b******s.

That was at 09:30 this morning - its now 22:52 and status hasn't changed...... TNT still say delivery today - sorry TNT - ain't gonna happen unless you using Buggati Veyron or similar as delivery vehicles...

Hi all. It's a lovely kit and the detail is awesome. Went to collect mine yesterday but sadly the clear parts are faulty which is a common issue with the kit and they know about it, so make sure you can get them replaced. Second is the metal barrels are unusable as they don't have the cooling jackets with them. I have raised this with the shop and they are going to try and get the barrels replaced when they send the new clear parts.

Just got an email apparently from FedEx about my kit.
They are demanding £119 in taxes before they will deliver it - and if its not paid within 5 days of the package entering the country it gets sent back to the originator.
Thing is it entered the country 6 days ago and online tracking says it it left FDX Aylesford today arriving at Maidenhead sorting office at 18:09 tonight.
The invoice has the consignment number & senders details correct and looks legit.
However part of me is screaming SCAM because it was held at Northampton for customs assessment and released on. Usually in the UK demands for VAT on goods entering the country come from HMRC at point of entry so Fedex trying to claim VAT after release from customs assessment sounds iffy to me.
Going to see what tracking says tomorrow and maybe call Fedex from a number I look up, not the one in the invoice, if its not showing out for delivery.

You have to be so careful with the proliferation of scams. The amount claimed though is some what in keeping with the value of your kit....do you think ? How would they know that ? Coincidence ?
                                  stay careful and safe.

Ps......why don't they just add the vat onto the sale at the time of purchase. It's what happens here ( even international ) except we pay only 10% and the government doesn't have to employ all those people to enforce it.

I'd call FedEx Customs directly. I used to work as a shipper for avionics doing a lot of international stuff (shipped to every continent except Antarctica.) FedEx in the US has a really good help line if you call the right branch (they are not all connected like UPS.) Plus their fraud guys are really good too.

If I was you, forward the e-mail to FedEx fraud. Forward the same e-mail to FedEx Customs. And, if you know the airline the package come on (assuming it wasn't a FedEx plane) and ask them about their customs policy.

Also, from the website you bought the kit from, change your passwords and delete any saved credit card info. Then monitor your credit card stuff for the next couple of weeks/months.

Sadly its a genuine message. Bank account now £119 lighter. Apparently HMRC have changed the rules allowing the courier companies to collect the VAT rather than directly.
I suppose I should think myself lucky - when I got one of the Battlestars the other year it came via the postal system and I got hit with the assessed VAT + a handling charge + a charge for opening & resealing the package + a charge for carrying out the assessment + a charge for e-mailing me to tell me I had to pay the VAT and all the charges.

Hopefully the kit will now arrive in the next two days. :)

                                    That's a bugger :(

But unfortunately ordering from out of country has become more of a lottery than ever these days - I'm guessing something the size of a suitcase was always going to attract some unwanted attention.

We'll need lots of pictures when it arrives. I assume the box is the size of a small car.

Glad it looks like it might finally be resolved Neil. I've only recently looked these up on youtube (The Lancaster, not the Citroen.) All I can say is WOW! The whole thing looks incredible. You are going to have so many late nights. Also you can use the box as a kennel for an elephant when finished. Enjoy.

Actuallly getting was a saga again. Around 13:00 hrs I thought to check the tracking status and to my surprise the status had changed to successfully delivered. Which was odd because I've been home all morning and there was neither sight nor sound of it. Checked the signature status and found it had been signed for by an "N Neil". So feeling suitably irate I rang TNT to find out what the hell they were playing at. Spoke politely to a lady - who then had all her systems go down, one after the other as she tried accessing the drivers notes, consignment status and consignment details. Just as she was about go manually raise a concern they came back up and showed it delivered to number 1 - I live at number 25. So walked around to #1 and yes, the old guy had it. It had been dropped outside his door and he'd just rung TNT demanding they return and pick it up. He hadn't signed for it either so that driver is going to be in for some awkward questions. Alls well that ends well though.....

Probably the biggest, in terms of size and cost, plastic model kit we will see for a looong while.

Excellent news Neil .Got to admit that is a very positive attitude for something that was a near catastrophe. You're a lot more calmer than I would be. I didn't see it on first glance of the photos but the expression on your dogs face is hilarious, a ''What the heck's he bought now and why must I share my sofa?'' look. Is this going to be a dive straight in and build or a I've created a time schedule planned build? (If that makes sense)

Yep - its actually real! The kit does exist outside of photos and videos on the interwebby..
Whopper doesn't come close - I'd heard stories the box was the size of a small suitcase, the type that go in the O/H locker in airliners - I can confirm they are 100% true. :)
Definitely chuffed at getting it at long last. :) :)

Wasn't feeling very calm at the time I assure you - something the lady at TNT picked up on very quickly. Mainly because I thought it had been nicked given it had apparently been signed for. Calmed down a LOT when they found it had been delivered to the wrong address and I'd got it in my hands. :)
Build-wise first I need to clear the bench as currently there are 4 projects on the go. Then before I even think about building it I need to find somewhere to put the finished item. Currently the only viable place is the coffee table in the lounge, with a case over it. Needless to say the OH is rather opposed.... Might have to get the sharp swords out and switch into psycho mode to change her her mind..
Once I start the build I will likely follow the sequence in the - long - list of YT videos at the start of this thread. I think I will need to stock up on paint first as well. :)
                                          Neil (yet another one...)
