Han Solo´s blaster

This is in the works at the moment.

Parts are printing as i type and some are done already

As you can see from the pictures Im using black filament, that is just because I ran out of grey and white when a test print of a Mandalorian helmet was being made
I use a store brand from a store called Clas Ohlson and I have found some temp settings that works great.

- Nozzle - 210 degrees celsius
- Bed - 80 degrees celsius
`-using glass bed with Elmers purple gluestick for extra adhesion to eliminate warping, also printing with a brim
Printing with a 0,4mm nozzle and layer height of 0,12mm. Its more time consuming but the end result is worth it.

I'll have to look into those setting and the glue stick method. I've found my prints nearly always warp depending on size.

I look at that blaster - and think Broomhandle Mauser with MG34 flash eliminator..... Can't think why.....

Try it out. If you have a metal print plate glue will help. I found as mentioned above that the glass print plate works better. Also keep the printer away from drafty areas, for example windows or near doors.

The glue that is used is the standard school glue that is possible to buy everywhere, and its water washable so the cleaning of models and the print plate is easy

Ooo nice I’ve been working on one of these for a couple of years now I’ve got most of it printed (resin) I’m just in the process of finding the right hardware for it to hopefully make the best one I can, hopefully yours will be awesome

Since this is a low part model then some details are absent. I did find a model that has alot more detail and parts. It will be printed too sometime during the summer. Also, the trigger broke when removing a support, will be fixed with some glue

Also noticed that my print bed was abit out of level. When doing a bed-level check it was 0,5mm of.. and that resultet in abit bad quality on the grips and some other bits.

Next up is glue, primer and paint...

The print turned out as I wanted, but I will also print a version with more parts and details soon too.
So this will be version 1.0 and version 2.0 will be more interesting

Version 1 is pretty cool as it it.... Version 2 promises to be even more interesting. Who'd have thought a Broom Handle Mauser could morph so spectacularly??

Update time..

Lets call the first print out v1.0 and that came out alright. Some parts dont fit as the should and when primed more flaws in the model became visible. Cracks, misfitting etc.. So it´s primed and has got a layer of flat aluminum. Not sure if I will spend more time and paint on it.

But as mentioned before, I found a more detailed and interesting model of the blaster. So after spending almost two hours slicing and getting the files ready for print the first parts are on the way. There are 37 parts at least that needs printing and I merged alot of files into one print job. So there will be atleast 22 or 23 prints that is needed. This time all the parts will be printed in grey PLA+, a cheap filament from Clas Ohlson

I use nozzle temp on 210 degree celsius, bed temp is 80 degree celsius.
Also the layer height is 0.12mm, and line width is 0.4mm. Also uses 3 walls and 20-25% infill.

If more specs on my slicing profile is wanted let me know.

The printing goes ever on and on...

After more tuning with layer height and thickness and some other parameter in Cura Slicer the prints now look great. Im thinking of trying a 0.2mm nozzle for even better prints, but not on big models like this.
There is still some issues where the supports are needed and the finish isn´t that good. But some sanding will fix those imperfections

So, here is the parts sofar on the v2.0 of the pistol project.




Alot more parts will be printed this weekend and update photo will come on monday evening..

Yes indeed. Im just thinking of how it would look with a resin printer though. Its just one more reason to get one to not have to sand the models

And maybe safer not sanding, I'm sure the liquid is still nasty though....gloves/mask.
