CA debonder

Anyone recommend a good CA debonder please? Getting back into the build mojo I've found I placed the PE radio set in a Trumpeter BTR-60 too high up the side of the lower hull so the top hull won't fit.
I've had a nose on the eModel and Ultimate web site - couldn't see anything on Ultimate but eModels list a Logic glue debonder @ £3.25 for 20 ml and a Wurth super glue debonder @ £7.00 for 30ml.
Either of these any good to get that radio set off?
Is there a better one out there? If so - what & where from?

If you just need to debond PE, acetone is much cheaper and more readily available. However, it will ruin any paintwork and will eat plastic in an instant.

I have some BSI de-bonder, but I have found that it isn’t that kind to plastic parts either.

Go to the closest beauty/makeup store to you and get a bottle of acetone-based nail polish remover.
This will debond the CA. Not sure it what it might do to paint, but it works great getting your fingers apart. Ask me how I know!

Therein lies the problem - the PE part is firmly stuck to the plastic lower hull as in the photos:




I need a way of removing the PE part without destroying the plastic lower hull. So I was hoping there might be a CA debonder available thatt won't also destroy the rather visible part of the lower hull. Only other alternative I can see is to take a file to the back of the PE part and put a chamfer on to suit the upper hull.

BAD news straight off the Bob Smith web site.

Since cured CA is essentially acrylic plastic, anything that will dissolve CA will also soften most plastics. Care must be used, therefore, when using Un-Cure on plastics. Separating plastics parts with a razor saw is usually the best option.

How about WD-40 ? It will soften Ca or is that a plastic eater too ?

I have a bottle of Colle21 superglue debonder. It's plastic friendly, but definitely melts paint, and I think so does every other CA debonder. Night Shift on youtube used to recommend Dousek debonder, and helped develop the VMS debonder.

Thanks Digger. Paint I can redo. Big holes in the plastic much less so.

I stumble on this thread while looking for a solution for a similar problem that happened to me yesterday. While using CA glue for 2 plastics parts that were painted, the glue squeezed through a small hole and went on top of the painted part. So I'm wondering what's the best way of removing it without damaging too much of my paint work. And lets say it's not in a good location...
Should I use a debonder or go straight to sanding ?

I purchased the Green Stuff Ciano Cleaner, tested it and it does its work! But only on unpainted plastic parts.

I may or may not have had to use that green bottle of Un-Cure on my fingers recently
Super thin CA glue tends to run off the part and onto your holding fingies, gluing you to said part
I would have gotten acetone but the store was out of it

Well... I actually have at home the equivalent of both those products in the AK brand and tried it yesterday and it sucks ! I did a test to see how would react the paint. All the paint around the glue left off but the glue didn't do nothing ! I'm afraid of using acetone because it's hard on plastic. So I'll buy either Bob Smith's or VMS, which is supposedly pretty good. I'll to put the Pfalz on hold
