Italeri Kettenkrad in 1/9

Post by digger303 »

Here is my contribution to the large scale build lots of flaws, but I can only spend so much time on a kit before I'm looking for the next one
I went for the dusty desert look

The most glaring flaw is that the engine cover won't sit square and I'll just have to live with that. If I was going to do it again I would remove the internal guides it is suppose to sit on and put the tool box covers on the right side and place the red cross decal on the right hatch under the handle bars. The back air vent just doesn't sit right either and I'm sure that's a kit issue. However I'm still pretty happy trying out new things and the kit looks reasonable.

:cheers2: chaps

PS....anyone notice the helmets suddenly appearing half way through the shoot.....

Reading your build thread, I know you have had a problem or two, but looking at the final photos you must be over the moon with how it turned out. The attention to detail you have gone to with the chipping/weathering is fantastic. Great work Digger. :th:
Thanks

Pretty amazing job mate!! I'm well and truly impressed, especially given the issues you had with it. Helmets are a VERY neat finishing touch. :)

A very cool machine and a fun build to follow along with Digger. I enjoyed looking at your chipping effects :cheers2: :th:

I used the VMS chipping paint with a sponge, which is removable even when dry. So if you don't like it or put to much on it comes off with water or a tooth pick.

I'll have to order some of that chipping paint. I like that you can take it off even after drying.

Superb work mate - that's a cracking result especially with everything the kit threw at you during the build!

Ps.....apparently the bike and sidecar kit in 1/9 is bad too, but I want to build it. Just not just yet.

You did a fantastic job on that, especially with all the issues you had. Its like looking at a real kettenkrad. Well done.
