And just like that October crept up & tapped us on the shoulder... so does that mean Scott's Headless Horseman is due for its annual outing?

After a really productive August I guess it was only natural that things slowed down a bit in September although I did start another figure and continued to work on the Draken

Here's how the list looks now
  • First up complete the BR86 Locomotive dio by the end of January - Yep Done & slightly ahead of schedule :) (Photos)
  • Not the Usual Conflicts - Takom's Panzer I ausf A in Spanish Civil War markings - Done and well within the time for a change (Photos)
  • Eggs - Meng Toons Panther - Done - this just took a couple of weeks and was a lot of fun (Photos)
  • Maritime - Matchbox He115 - Done - this came together really quickly and very pleased with the result despite the age of the kit (Photos)
  • Sci Fi - MPC Hawk from Space 1999 - Done - another one that came together quickly (Photos)
  • Large Scale Build - Das Werk 1/16 StuG
  • 1/48 Drop in - I'd like to get two builds in here if time permits, Tamiya's Panther and Eduard's Draken
    - Tamiya Panther - Done and installed on a "Kursk" diorama base (Photos)
    - Eduard 1/48 Draken - ticking along and just about ready for primer & paint (WiP)
  • Other stuff
    - Big Child Creatives "Echoes of Camelot" 75mm Sir Lancelot du Lac - Done & turned out really well (Photos)
    - White Werewolf Tavern 75mm Banshee - figure painting in progress (WiP)
Work has seriously drained any enthusiasm in the last couple of weeks & we've got a couple of busy weekends coming up so expecting October to be slow, but hopefully I can move both active projects along a little more.
Cheers, Neil

Since we were busy just about every weekend in October it's been no real surprise that the build log has REALLY slowed down... I managed to get a little more done to progress the Draken but the banshee has been completely neglected for the whole month.

We're away for a week in November as well so it will still be some time before I can get the Draken finished and make a start on the StuG.

As a result there's no real change to the hitlist...

And December is upon us
Image

Unfortunately I'm properly bogged down at the moment for all sorts of the usual reasons.

I did get the Draken painted & decalled and hoping I'm going to get it finished by the end of the year (probably in the last week).

The StuG is definitely out until 2023 but at least I know what my first build of the year will be.

So here's the list for December
  • First up complete the BR86 Locomotive dio by the end of January - Yep Done & slightly ahead of schedule :) (Photos)
  • Not the Usual Conflicts - Takom's Panzer I ausf A in Spanish Civil War markings - Done and well within the time for a change (Photos)

    - Eduard 1/48 Draken - Painted & Decalled(WiP)
  • Other stuff
    - Big Child Creatives "Echoes of Camelot" 75mm Sir Lancelot du Lac - Done & turned out really well (Photos)
    - White Werewolf Tavern 75mm Banshee - figure painting in progress (WiP)
Cheers, Neil

2022 Build Plan - End of Year Review

Post by Tomcat64 »

Well time for a look back on how I did on this one - when I put the list up I thought it was pretty ambitious but as it turned out I managed to get all bar one kit done and added a couple of extra figures into the mix so pretty happy with how this turned out considering how bogged down I got in the last quarter of the year.

I'm counting the Draken as done as well as it only just squeaked over to January 2nd (and I still need to do the reveal photos) so I figured that was close enough; so only the 1/16 StuG fell off the bottom and that will most likely be my next project.

Here's the end of year report with pictures of each project
  • First up complete the BR86 Locomotive dio by the end of January - Yep Done & slightly ahead of schedule :)
    Image

  • Not the Usual Conflicts - Takom's Panzer I ausf A in Spanish Civil War markings - Done and well within the time for a change, built alongside the ausf B from the same kit
    Image

  • Eggs - Meng Toons Panther - Done - this just took a couple of weeks and was a lot of fun
    Image

  • Maritime - Matchbox He115 - Done - this came together really quickly and very pleased with the result despite the age of the kit
    Image

  • Sci Fi - MPC Hawk from Space 1999 - Done - another one that came together quickly
    Image

  • Large Scale Build - Das Werk 1/16 StuG - Nope - a build too far :(

  • 1/48 Drop in - I'd like to get two builds in here if time permits, Tamiya's Panther and Eduard's Draken
    - Tamiya Panther - Done and installed on a "Kursk" diorama base
    Image

    - Eduard 1/48 Draken - Finished up at the end of the year & by the first couple of days of the new year
    Image

  • Other stuff
    - Big Child Creatives "Echoes of Camelot" 75mm Sir Lancelot du Lac - Done & turned out really well
    Image

    - White Werewolf Tavern 75mm Banshee - Finished up at the end of December
    Image
Thanks to everyone that followed along with the monthly progress reports & offered encouragement during the builds.

This year I have no plan :D
Cheers, Neil

A sterling year in review.
I have a part plan of at least 3-4 builds I'd like to get done after that...who knows.

Nice year of builds! I don't know if I can pick a favorite. They're all great. Maybe the figures.

I'm torn between the BR86 and the He115, but slightly leaning towards the He115.
One thing this post does show up beautifully is that by adding a good base it lifts the over all build to a new level.
A build without one just seems a little bereft of life.
Then if you add a base for everything the builds take so much longer and available display space shrinks accordingly...
I wish I had a basement they are so large, cool and out of the wives view.....the ultimate cave

I've got exactly the same problem - I really like adding a base or dio to a kit to give the subject some kind of context but they just chew up display space.

The He-115 wasn't too bad as the base was within the wingspan so didn't take up any more space than the kit would have without it.

I'm contemplating trying to clear the junk out of the garage & using some of that for display space - but I've been contemplating that for a few years now
