This is a great read if, like me, you started modelling with Airfix kits many, many moons ago as a kid. It basically goes through the whole history of Airfix from inception right up to 2009 (when the book was written).

It has some great historical facts and goes through the rise and fall and rise again of Airfix over the years. A lot of references to old OOP kits and thoughts of many modellers from over the years with plenty of vintage box art. It's not a book that to read all in one go as it is only about the one thing - Airfix so, you could find it a little tiring. But, it's great to pick up and read now and then as I do and it's nice when you come across a few of the old kits I did as a 12/13 year old.

Smacks of nostalgia - Recommended if you made kits as a child.

Costs - £13 ($20)

:D
Where does all the bloody time go.....?

Thanks for the quick review. Sounds exactly like the sort of book I would read.

Besides being a trip down memory lane, this book's title belies that it is a very detailed business history of the company.
Naturally as Airfix is still a brand name in the market today, the book takes one up to a point that is pre Hornby.
