BINNED

Post by digger303 »

I started this Takom kit of a m114 a few weeks ago.
Image

It fought me a lot with the deck not fitting and then the grill wasn't right either and then the front plate. It went on and on, anyway I managed to get a reasonable fit after much filing. The the ammo feed had to be massively pruned, 5-8mm. The front lights were very fiddly and the wheels were a bit loose on 2 axles. Then I went to fit the tracks. I had previously checked the driver and that was fine, but the trouble was the road wheels. The track guides would not fit in between the road wheels.
This is as far as I got.

It defeats me it won... :violin:

Ps.....The only way I can see to fix this is to cot the wheels off. Split the road wheels insert a spacer then re attach said wheels.
I just don't wont too..... :wtf: :wall:

Sad but smart to cut and move on,
I have too many started projects that are dying from lack of attention

Possibly too late now - but - you could have run a thin jewellers file between the road wheels to increase the gap such that the guides would have fit?

That thing's got 'circular file' written all over it.

Kill it and save your mojo for something more worthy of your time :th:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

The file idea didn't occur to me, but wouldn't be possible due to the drive and rear idler being higher than the road wheels. I could file on the bottom side, but not the top.

I grabbed it out out of the bin the next day and took another stab at it and stuffed that up too so it's happily off my desk. A friend said he needs a few parts so I'm sending it off to him to do as he wants.

    :th: :th: :th:
    :cheers2:

Ps....started another kit and I'm happy as Larry now, but it still rankles the sod beat me.

That's pretty crap that a new kit (2021) would have such fit issues. Have you complained to Takom?

I dont look at it like the kit beat me when they are bad. You can polish a turd, its still a turd. So this one is a turd and you flushed it. Simple. :)
