krusty's 1/16 tiger crewman

Post by krusty69 »

figures for a model just make it feel so much more alive, unless i'm the one doing the painting  .
so anywho my tiger kit came with a crewman, i bought a extra from classy hobby, and at the last minute i though in a tamiya infantryman. so what have we figured out so far. on the kit figure the fit is great and the molding is very sharp, the classy hobby figure fit is bad, the sprue connection points are huge, but it does come with extra arm, hands and head to help with the posing. the tamiya figure ,is tamiya fits well but nothing extra fantastic. i just received the ak book on panzer crew uniforms i hope that helps me along. the figures are pretty assembled just have to work on the seams.
thanks krusty

Brilliant minds I tell ya. Seems like everyone is building 1/16 kits lately and pulling out all the stops to make them look great. Jarrod and I also purchased some American WW2 after-market figures for our 1/16 Sherman (currently a work-in-progress).

I like the figures you chose including the uniform camouflage scheme. As you said, these are going to bring the kit to life. Looking good so far!

:cheers2: :pop:
On the table or recently completed:

thanks guys. started working on the figures. just filling the seams with mister surfacer. will q tip and lacquer thinner then add another coat. the fit difference is noticeable. the kit figure with the best, tamiya with just a seam and the classy hobby with the small gap.
thanks for lookin krusty

Nice start on the camo colours - you can always alter the shapes when the later colours go down (ask me how I know :) )

Ref the faces at this scale you might be able to do the eyes first and then mask them with a dab of fluid while you work on the rest of the face; saves the risk of getting the faces how you want them and then trying to work the eyes in afterwards.
Cheers, Neil
