What to build......

Post by RangerNeil »

Decisions, decisions - I HATE decisions.... :lol:
This one is what to build.... I did a Mil-24 for the large scale build so although there is another in the stash, together with 1/72 "-A" and "-E" versons I'm not minded to build another this year. Kamov Helix's are what I consider "fill-ins" for when the bench is quiet so I am left to choose from:
* Mil Mi-6 Early (VERY big)
Image

* Mil Mi-6 VKP (even bigger)
Image

* Mil Mi-10K (Bigger still)
Image

*Mil Mi-10 (same size as the -10K but think Soviet version of Tarhe)
Image

* Mil Mi-22 (Mi-6 VKP on steroids)
Image

* Mil Mi-26 (friggin HUGE - dwarfs the -22)
Image

* Mil Mi-V-12 (the whopper of all choppers)
Image

So - Vox Populus, Vox Dei - you guys can decide!! :)
Pollopen till the end of August so I can clear (most of) the bench as I'm gonna need the space!!

    Compared to the V-12 the -26 is a diddy one. The -12 can lift & carry a 40 tonne load. :)

      Went for the Mi-6 VKP. For the simple reason it looks more 'helicopter like' to me.My lack of knowledge in this area is astounding! :oops:

      At the risk of upsetting the apple cart - the Mil Mi-10 first flew in 1960, the CH-54 in 1962....... :lol:

        :lol: :lol: :lol:
        The Sikorsky - whatever the number - is actually superior to the Mi-10. It can carry demountable pods or underslung loads whereas the Mi-10 only has the platform between the 4 legs. I'm not sure if that can be dropped to allow underslung loads - it would be logical but we ARE talking the Soviets here...... :lol:

        On the other hand the Mi-6, Mi-22 and Mi-26 were the heavy lifters of their era's - the Mi-26 still is, being hired by Coalition Forces in Afghanistan to retrieve downed Chinooks from altitude.
        The Mi-V-12, though, is in a league of its own. Still holds the world record of 40,204 kg/88,635 lb Maximum load to 2,000/6,600 ft that was set back in 69.....

          Pretty or not - the Mi-V-12 is leading the pack at the moment with 4 votes.
          Mi-26 is second with 2 votes
          Mi-6 is third with 1 vote.

          I'd better start hunting for the painting masks for the V-12.... :lol:

            For myself it tends not to be a winner scenario, more of a "build order" - which one shall I build first then next. So - in this instance it looks like I'll be attempting the Amodel Mi-V-12 first and when that is done the Mi-26 and then the Mi-6. All have been in the stash for 3 years or so, all are crying out to be built so I'm truly not bothered which one "wins" pole position. :)

            Bagged the paint masks too. Got them from a firm in the Ukraine so provided no one blows their post office up we will be good to go soon. :lol:

              :lol: I see, so in theory you've got the build order for all five. To be fair to Ukraine, if their Post Office does get damaged, it will still be more prompt than ours at the minute.

              Well - the first 3 certainly!! :)
              Might do a dual build with the Mi-10 and Revells 1/72 CH-53 if the group build hasn't finished by then.. :)
