Round 2/AMT re-release of old kits

Post by BigWall »

Round 2/MPC has re-released the Millennium Falcon in 1:72 scale. The description says it is a re-issue with new details. It doesn't say if it comes from new molds. I found it on Cult TV Man for $69.99. It's in stock and I have one on the way.

Round 2/AMT has re-released the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 D in 1:1400 scale. It's available for pre-order from Cult TV Man and expected to cost $45-$55. There's really no other info available for it. I've got one pre-ordered.

There's also a Klingon Battle Cruiser being re-issued and available for pre-order.

I still dont understand why there is such a scarcity of decent Star Wars and Star Trek kits. A decent line of kits would be an absolute gold mine for any modern manufacturer. Demand would be sky high but nothing.

We're stuck with Bandai Toys and the occasional wallet murdering 'Special'. I'd give my left nut for a 1/32 Snowspeeder!
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

I'd love a set of Enterprises all to the same scale, that included the lighting kits, decent decals etc. None of this frantic hunt the bits on the web stuff.
Nice to dream!! :)

I agree! These are two of the most iconic shows on Earth!

I guess it's down to licensing - it's a shame Fine Molds lost/sold the rights as some of their kits were really nice; I have a couple of the 1/72 kits as well as the 1/48 X-Wing in the stash that Revell reboxed.

It's not 1/32, but they did release a 1/48 Snow Speeder - I just had a look and they're going for about 70quid on ebay...

I just noticed that there's a 1:32 tie fighter available as well. The description says it's all new so it must be new molds. I'm so tempted to pick it up but I've already bought 3 new kits this week. My wife wouldn't be happy.
