I've been a bit slack here lately, but here's a couple that arrived today.
For my Academy tusk 2
Image

and this Mk 1 Churchill that I've been trying to track down for years and I'm so happy to finially lay my hands on one.
Actually in the end I put up a wanted ad and the first time failed so I put it up again 6-8 weeks later and snagged it straight off...persistence I guess.

Got some AK US Army Helo Drab in the mail. This should go well with my AH-64D build. Also got a 0.7mm drill bit in the mail, which will also help on the helo.

Don't know about the air , but the normal 3rd gen paints are very good for brush painting.

I need to get one of those paint shakers.

Nothing major in the mail. Just a B-47. Hopefully it will be a relatively easy and simple build. And it wont take up the space the 1/72 will. LOL

Can always suck the tummy in for a while in regards to the bank balance and space can be juggled to some extent, but ducking a wife when she's got the bit between her teeth is a daunting prospect....

(If anyones interested give me a shout. )

Very true about the wife..... Especially mine..... She hasn't quite got around to counting the kits and asking why I need so many Mil-24 and Saab Viggen kits..... May not be far away though - esp. when the package from JetMad arrives......

My paint mixer died, some fault with the motor. Very disappointing, however I managed to get another in short order.
      Image

I wouldn't be without one these days only wish the motor had more torque, not speed. Some of the gluey paints take a bit of force to get them mixed properly.

That aircraft is bonkers. Like, how does it work? Jet-tipped rotors? Retreating blade stalls? The aeronautical part of my brain is having trouble comprehending how that thing works. Very cool! :cheers2:

The Rotodyne was basically an enhanced autogyro, exhaust gases from the engines were fed up to the tips to spin the rotor, there was no mechanical drive & thus no need for a tail rotor to counter-act the torque. It could land & take-off vertically like a conventional helicopter or it could use runways like a plane, only using a very short distance. Possibly the worlds first VSTOL that would have been commercially viable. It was seen as the perfect machine for intercity flights and had pre-orders from several airlines inc. American ones plus considerable interest from the RAF. It could carry passengers like a normal airliner, freight loaded through rear clam-shell doors or a combination of both.
Unfortunately it fell victim to a number of issues - not the least of which was UK politicians. Then there was the fact it was designed to use Rolls-Royce Tyne engines - but was refused permission because the Gov't wanted the export sales so Fairey were forced to use the less powerful Napier Eland's. And it fell foul of the first breed of eco-loons who complained about the noise of the tip jets. It took Fairey engineers 7 attempts to reduce noise without power loss only for the UK Gov't to order its cancellation. :( Not only that but Fairey were also ordered to destroy all tooling and drawings as well as the flying prototypes (this has led some to conclude the project was another victim of US commercial interest, like TSR-2 as the RAF were then supplied with US built Chinooks - ironically the Mk VII tip silencers rendered the Rotodyne more quieter than the Chinook)

A good book on the machine, if you find it it, is "Fairey Rotodyne" by David Gibbings - ISBN: 978-0-7524-4916-6.

          I bought models. Of course.

          Hello fellow modelers !

So here's what the postman had for me in 2 different deliveries

ImageSans titre by Francis Pare, sur Flickr

So a few paint brushes (but was sent the wrong length of handle :wall: ). The tube are actually collapsable tube to put pencils or paintbrushes. I'll use them to sort out a few things in my new modeling area.

But it's the rest that more interesting  I've got VMS CA glue and the concentrate to make their thinner, which is now my favorite thinner for acrylics. I've got Tamiya's punch. Not as expensive as others and don't need it that much. So it should do for my needs. I've got AK paints and a Tamiya paint can that are for my upcoming projects (the WnW we see in the corner). The Tamiya paint can (Peal light blue) should be a good match for the scheme I'm going to do.

Finally the last and most interesting is beautiful Cooper State Model ! Wanted one of their kits for a while and their was a small kind of sale  But it was mostly to make me feel better. At first glance, the kit looks awesome and even looks a bit better then WnW for half the retail price. And the instructions are much better !
          Francis

Very nice selection. What's the Infini easy cutter ?
The spray can looks more grey than blue ?
            :th: :th: :th:
            :cheers2:
It's the type D easy cutter. I already have the type A. Love it. Since I like painting instead of decals for markings lots of time, I think it will come handy from time to time.

As for the spray can, well you'll see with the email I sent. It's kind of a metallic light purple, as I spray tested on the wing of my Javelin. No use for that ! and will never have the use for it !

            I'm back :thumb1:

Picked up another bargain just out of curiosity more than anything. These go for silly prices on amazon, like 200 bucks.

            Image

The rainbow coloured popper is I hope going to be good for using small amounts of paint. The cups are finger tip size and
the whole thing is made from silicone. So the idea is when the paint has dried as it does you can just pop it and the paint
will peel out leaving it clean as a whistle. Well that's the idea.

I've had a long time ambition to build the Tiger family. So I now have the King Tiger and Jagd Tiger here and I'm awaiting delivery of a Tiger 1 and Schturm Tiger. That just leaves the Tiger (P) Elefant to find. :)

Nice buy. I built the Takom one and the only small problem I had was there was too big a gap where the gun shield rotated in the sponson.
I'm sure you won't have the same issue though. Look forward to you building this and the Tiger series of tanks. I wouldn't mind building one myself next year.

I picked up the new Adam Wilder book. It's got a lot of good info and techniques in it. I can't wait to finish the Mike Rinaldi book I'm currently reading and start this new one. The Wilder book features his Tortoise build so I'm interested to see that in detail. I've also bought a lot of model paint and tools for working on my Jeep lately. My wife definitely has her antennae up.

I think it has good info for all modelers. He shows how to to everything from painting and weathering to using copper to scratch build parts. He also has a couple other books. One covers building and the second covers painting/weathering. It looks like a lot of the info from those two books is used in the new book. The new book is over 300 pages.

and a Mobelwagen which was more or less a prototype for the Ostwind and Wirbelwind still to come.
Some very crisp details in this kit too.

I might give it a go. It might be better than wrestling with large decals and drilling holes through them. I don't know, but I'm willing to try it at least once. :D

true that the decals gave me lots of trouble on the Pfalz. Although the Aviattic ones worked quite better it was still lots of trouble. The biggest problem I had was cutting them to the right size to fit the wing.

Always liked the box art on the Sheridan from RFM so that convinced me. Then there was the snow mobile...unusual so thats a keeper and then the Citroen in 1/48 was because of the diorama potential and at 15 bucks why not.

and as you can see it comes with a couple of extra's. I've decided to sell the kit and gun, but keep the tracks. So hopefully it it pans out I can get the tracks for about 26 bucks. So not bad if it comes off, but SPADE ACE isn't a top maker of product either.

They have been around for a while and as far as I know only do metal tracks. I'm not sure if they are still manufacturing.
They just use a bit of wire for the pin which looks ok on some tracks, but others where the tracks are large they do detract a little from the look and maybe proper track pins would look better. To me the casting looks a little rough for the scale and some links have a fair amount of thin flash. A little smoothing on the ground contact surfaces would improve them. However maybe that's just me as some quite like them.

Hey digger, how does the M551A1 Sheridan look when you open the box? Do you know anyone who has built it and what they thought of the fit? I've been pondering this kit for quite some time. I've built the older Academy and original Tamiya ones a long time ago. They were both of the earlier (Vietnam) version.

I went to General Phillip Sheridan High School for my 9-12th grade education, which is named after the same person as the real recon vehicle and model kit.

Both models are now gone and I would like a newer kit with higher detail for the middle east version (and perhaps some metal track links). Here is a good review I found on the web of the RFM TTS version (good read):
