Street signs for dioramas - please help!

Post by HamilkarBarkas »

Hi guys!
I intend to build a diorama of the operation "Weserübung", the occupation of Norway by the Wehrmacht in April 1940. My diorama won´t have that many features, so i really want to add a Norwegian street sign that fits the scene, i´d love to see a road sign with "Lillehammer", "Kvam" or "Oslo". I searched through the web but i could not find something suiting i could print on the computer and use it. Maybe you guys have an idea what i could do, maybe someone has one of those Verlinden street sign sets for Norway (but i don´t think such a set exists, they have them for a lot of countries but i haven´t seen one for Norway yet!).
Thank you in advance! :cheers2:

Hi Hamilkar
Although I have not found street signs from Operation Weserübung. But maybe this picture will help.
It shows two soldiers during install of self-made street signs...

Not sure about road signs, but a nice vintage poster might be easier to find to stick on a wall...eg nice ones on this page

@Schoof
i think i have this set somewhere, i used a couple of them already but especially the distance notes might be helpful on a selfmade sign, thank you for bringing that back into my mind!

@Dunhill
thats an amazing picture, it shows that street signs were sometimes not the official ones but improvised ones from the army. this information might be useful.

@Rob
a poster is not perfect for my dio as there are no wall where i could stick it to, but anyway, its a very interesting vintage poster. thank you for sharing this!

I think you can make the signs as you like...
City and street signs were often removed to make an orientation harder for the enemy :thumb1:

Michael,

You could just make your own signs on the computer and print them on decal paper. Instant decals!
