Hey Scott, I see what you mean regarding the figures.... In my experience with figures from China, they mix 1/18 and 1/16 within the same descriptions, but there is a difference. As I'm sure you know 1/16 figures are 120mm and 1/18 are I believe to be around 90mm. That most likely explains the variance your showing.

Neil, that Meteor will be stunning on bare metal, especially in 1/32.

No not really a new direction I have a small collection of rail related items that I have collected for years with the idea of doing a Station and marshalling yard type scene. However after finally realising the scale of such a venture I have been questioning that approach within myself mulling it over if you will. So I'm at a stand still in my mind about that, however items like a tanker would go very well in a industrial setting....maybe one day. Sometimes as you know you have to grab these things before they go out of production. The tanker car with the brake is very hard to find already and that wasn't available for very long at all. It would have gone very well with a v2 rocket being fuelled.

Mostly because of replacements where I have either run out or close to and I don't like wasting the freight allowance.


Then there's our WW2 home grown replacement when other craft weren't available. First prototype built in 3 months ( 250 built) a few were shot down as happens in war by the Japanese and the USA an it never had a air combat win. However was terrific as a ground assault craft. The last development the CAC-14 was said to match the Spitfire Mk 5, but the war ended and that was that.

While we were on holiday I picked up an email from the Royal Mail saying that they were going to deliver a package from Hannants - an item I'd had on back order for a while and which had actually been announced a few years ago. So I logged onto the RM website and asked them to deliver to a neighbour and got a delivery notification later... something to look forward to when we got home I thought

What I found when we got home was this:


For those not in the UK or familiar with the term "Wheelie Bin" - this is our general waste/trash/garbage bin which before we went away had been garnished with such tasteful items as a bag of used cat litter and several items of general waste... however the icing on the top was that our waste collection day happened to be after the mail was delivered and yep the bin had been emptied before we got home.

Unimpressed with this choice of "safe place" I raised a complaint with the RM, asking amongst other things how I should claim compensation. The response I got three days later was underwhelming to say the least, but buried in the corporate b/s was a clue that they expected the sender to make the compensation claim.

So I contacted Hannants who called me back to confirm the details and despite this issue obviously not being of their making despatched a replacement that same afternoon and will claim comp for the ineptitude of the mail service; so I now have one of these beasts


I am genuinely blown away by Hannants customer service, as far as they're concerned the order isn't complete until it's in your hands

Just one more footnote...this was included in the paperwork in the kit and seemed to have RangerNeil's name all over it

While its a sad state of affairs, it is also nice to know that you have great customer service from your supplier. I had my eye on that Flak Track too so I'm eager to see what you think of it and how it builds up. And a full "YES" that is definitely his type of whirlybird.

As regards Royal Mail - I'll second a vote for incompetence. JetMads despatched 6 x 1/32 Viggens to the UK on 16/02/24, one of which was mine. Turkish postal tracking records them as arriving at Heathrow on the 18/02/24. At this point they literally vanish into thin air. RM tracking still lists the shipment number as "in transit from Turkey. Jetmads are now talking RM to see whats going on but for the time being 6 x £500 worth of kits are AWOL and cannot be replaced as the entire production run has been sold.

As regards the Trumpeter Mi-4 kit - point me at it!!! I'd love the chance for a nice easy build after the last few!!!!

That same thing happens here when tracking anything coming from overseas. Once it hits our shores it can't be tracked by the postal service.
Yet if it comes from aliexpress through their site I can see it clearing customs and then a comment being delivered. Which is 2 more steps along from AUST Post. Why can't they just use the same number scan it in on arrival. If it's got a country code on it as part of the number there shouldn't be any chance of that number being replicated. Too tricky for them to work out ??

Thanks Ben - delivery services just seem to be on a downward spiral at the moment - I guess it's because the driver has to deliver so many within a set timeframe to make any money that they just want to dump & run.

There'll definitely be a build thread when this one hits the bench but the rummage through the box looks promising

Lovely half track I wonder how it will compare to Tamiya's old offering ?

Well it's 760+ parts with a turned metal barrel & indy-link tracks so it's definitely not Tamiya-country... the only thing missing is a crew which I suspect I'll feel the need to add when it gets to the bench

Great purchase on the tank carrier digger. I opened mine and it appears to be a really nice kit, even though your not a big modern armor or wheels fan.

I think I have a few choices for the sci-fi GB, either figures or Star Wars.

I've been looking at acquiring for some time the 1/9 bike team as well. The price has kept me in check and I keep wondering about the quality. Hows yours look ? Will the bike need some support to keep it from sagging over time ?

Hey digger, the details seem like a good 1/16 figure simply blown up in scale. They look like Jeff Shiu figures which are normally quite nice. This set of rider and side seater came from Ali-Express (China) at around $79.00 (free shipping). I would call them good model quality with no air bubbles, pin-holes, or seams. It should be a simple trim off the resin block and put together. Most of my experience with this vendor requires little to no putty on the joints (nice tight fit). The faces and clothing are smooth with accurate folds and wrinkles.

Another surprise all together is the addition of a very nice looking MG42, MP40, and numerous spares (grenades, tarp, shovel, and much more) to add to the back of the bike; on top the spare tire. I have not noticed any linked ammo for the 42 though, so I'll have to find it elsewhere.

While not cheap, it does bring the 1/9 BMW or Zundapp with sidecar to a whole other level. For that I was willing to pay the price. I saw another figure set with two bike riders and a side seater for well over $100!!!

Got a couple of packages today - firstly Revell have sent me the missing parts for the Viking Long ship free of charge!!


And Hannants have sent the additional 1/72 PAG-14 Soviet runway plates.

Hip hip for Revell.....damn it's good service.
That's a lot of run way plastic you must have cleaned them out.

Had a surprise delivery today:


The new Airfix release of the Bulldog in 1/48 scale.
The surprise being I never ordered it - although the Airfix website assures me that I did!! All I've ordered recently is the Shannon class lifeboat due for release in summer to go with the Severn class I built the other year...... That order is definitely still on the system.

I had a quick peek in the box tonight - mouldings look nice and clean whilst maybe a third of the instruction book is given over to how to rig it... When I get the space to display it then it should be a nice build
