This will be my next build .

I picked this one because it has some PE with it and i really NEED to learn how to work with that :

i got this kit via Ebay and it seems the PE had seen some battle earlier...

i hope that wont be a problem ( Frans ???????)

and this i just found out to....

Tamiya PE with a Dragon kit........ i hope it will fit ...... ( some times i really dislike Ebay )

That pe will be fine, it just looks like the brass has tarnished, give it a clean with some warm water, dry it and primer it and itll be fine.

too bad that the PE doesnt really fit the plastic.......... and there is a lot more detail on the kit it self then on the PE.......

It would be quite a bit of hack and slash Sabastian, but you could make that work. It wouldn't be easy though.

Perhaps, as the front plate will replace the kit part, the test will to see if the barrel, breech and the rest of the works attach properly. The PE certainly looks good

Ok......... now this could sound a bit silly and you could go " yes of course like duh"..... But because i am a total and complete Noob if it comes to PE Here's my question. ......

So If i understand you correctly the pe those not cover the plastic but replaces it completely. .. like it doesn't matter matter really that the pe won't fit over the plastic soeks because i don't have to use the plastic shield ??

That last time that I used a PE gun shield yes, it replaces the original shield.
So you have to modify the other parts slightly in order to fit the new shield.
Either building them up a tiny bit, or trimming them down a tiny bit.
It's a difficult conversion Sebastian. It's not really something that I'd suggest for a newer modeller.
If you choose to do it though... lots of dry fitting... and tonnes of patience are needed.
And ask for help when you need it too.

Thanks alot i always thought that the pe goes over the plastic. ...... no wonder it didn't fit. ......

And that it is hard. ... well if i don't push myself my skill set will never improve and i really do like a Challenge as long as i gave a general idea of how to go at it witch i now have

the paint is sticking so far so i have good hopes .......

i finding this paint sprying very nicely and levels also very nicely ( and that for a paint the Lords of Paint dont know !!! )

I think that I've seen that stuff sold in the big craft store here in Halifax.
I never thought to try it out though.
How well did it spray buddy? Any clogging, or problems with the levelling after it dries?
Does it take long to dry?

I would say it sprays very nice i could lay on a thin layer and I'm a spray-noob no problems with leveling that i could see and the drying time. ... i really don't know.

i can think of 1 or 2 things..... 1 : i didnt shake the paint good enough
2 : the paint somehow reacts with the underlying paintcoat or the glue .......somehow....

So its acrylic on acrylic. Could it be 1 - not mixed sufficiently? Perhaps as its a dropper bottle, take the top off, ease off the dropper, stir the paint with a stick or brush (paint and carrier do tend to split in these bottles), transfer a bit to a palette, thin and mix well and brush paint a small bit on one of the (non visible if possible) effected areas and leave to dry to see if it covers better.
Otherwise - I'm at a loss!

Those bottles are a poor design for mixing. Whenever i crack open a new Vallejo Model Colour or similar, I give a stir with a stick to get the mass off the bottom (or out of the neck) and then drop in one or two marine quality stainless steel nuts (M5 size or similar). Makes light work of shaking the paint to mix.

Hmm... I saw that "effect" once or twice, but I don't think it could be the reason:
1) once I didn't wait long enough to primer to dry - it cought some wet from paint... and crap happened...
2) I didn't wait long enough after bath.. yeah... I washed away any fat or other surfaces and decided to go. While priming nothing happened, but when I put base colour... some rests of water with detergent flown from some hidden holes when I was spraying... I was "slightly dissapointed" for my own clumsiness

But I guess this is none of the reasons of what happened to you...

nope ... the "primer " was on for over a week .....

maybe the paint i used for the primer is the problem....... hhhmmmmmm

Sebastian,...
You could wait 24 hours after you painted that grey, then give your grey paint a really good mixing with a stick or with mixing nuts in the bottle,
then add a very thin coat of the grey (thin so it doesn't cover too much detail).
It should cover the crazed paint.

Your paints are reacting to each other. Once that top coat is dry enough it should give enough of a barrier that you can add a thin coat that will cover those spots.
It has to be thin though.. too thick and it may happen again.

Now there's a thought! Acrylic paint will act as a fair primer on plastic but i think metal needs something with a bit more bite. Perhaps use primer as a primer?

yeah i noticed that....... normally i use normal paint to prime and that always works but this is the first time i did PE so i guess the saying is true "you learn from your mistakes"

look what i found ........ been awhile since i had these guys on my bench

so i thought i go on and start the paint stage

they`re not done yet but they need to dry a bit first
