Kit manufacturing Academy

Post by WordenB »

I found this video showing kit production really interesting. From design to finished product in the Academy factory in South Korea, well worth a look if you've not seen it.

I watched and I must say I had my eyes opened a little as it looks very high tech.
My personal biases place Academy right down the list of manufacturers I prefer which is gained by the military land based kits I have. I would have said too that the kits are a little soft , lacking details and a few short cuts included. Which is probably gained from the belief they don't have many new kits in their product line up. Italeri would be placed a couple of of rungs below on my ladder of excellence. Yet there manufacturing base looks right up there.
Perhaps they have a better line up in the aircraft market. I'm not sure.

I have had some very good academy kits
Space Shuttle that I used for the launch pad diorama
747 Space Shuttle transport kit where the shuttle is on the roof of the aircraft
MG -TC…loved that one gorgeous spoked wheels, one of my favourite builds
Might just depend on the genre

I quite like their kits and they do some types/versions others don't. Not top draw but on par with say Hobby Boss.

I saw that video, but I have to say it’s impressive how they manage everything in that factory. nice to see how it all works from A to Z
