As this is a Sci-Fi SIG, lets talk Sci-Fi?

Never got into comics or books so its film and TV for me.

Franchises

Big Star Wars fan but also a minor Trekkie.

6 years old when Star Wars came out in 77 so I grew up on the originals. Hated the prequals and with the exception of The Force Awakens, which was just 2 hours of fan service, I'm not fussed by the new saga additions either. I loved Rogue 1 and have really enjoyed some of the new TV series, especially The Mandalorian and Andor.

Never really got into the original series of Start Trek but have enjoyed the films. I buy into the unspoken agreement that the even numbered films are the best and the odd numbered ones are not quite up to it. The Next Gen series was good but I never really got properly into it, same with Voyager and DS9. I thought Enterprise was very good and Discovery started well before losing me. I really like Strange New Worlds, great cast and story telling. I'm waiting for series 3 on that one. Picard has been good but a bit heavy going for me. I love Patrick Stuart but he needs to retire to his vineyard!

I loved Aliens and will forever be disappointed by what Alien 3 could have been if David Fincher had been allowed to make the mover he wanted as opposed to it being massacred by the studio. The more recent movies have just left me confused. Game over man!

Struggled a bit with the Dune movies, beautiful to look at but oh so long!

Does Superman count as Sci-Fi? If yes then the first 3 Christopher Reeves films were great especially the first 2. John Williams' score was just so beautiful. I have the 2 disc special addition of the OST and its amazing. Enjoyed Superman Returns and Man of Steel although fan opinion is far more mixed on those films.

Dr Who has really tailed off for me. My interest peaked decades ago and I've only had passing encounters with the more recent stuff.

Stand Alone

I watched the first series of Stranger Things and enjoyed it but not enough to commit to further episodes.

Blade Runner was amazing and the sequel was superb.

Minority Report and War of the Worlds, I really enjoyed both, although I would freely have given the screaming little girl to the aliens just to shut her up in War of the Worlds.

I enjoyed Arrival but I didnt get the time travel bit. Interstellar left me cold (and confused), same with Tenet, Chris Nolan got far too clever for his own good in those two IMHO

I fell in love with Colonel Deering in Buck Rogers - hubba hubba

I enjoyed the original Battlestar Galactica but it has not aged well. Thought the new series started well but got carried away with itself in the final series, still enjoyed it though.

I'm sure I've missed loads but you get the gist. Main stream movie fan and lots of good stuff on TV. Easy to please if its well made and well written.

Told you I'd missed a few, well spotted. I remember Bab 5, never saw The Expanse. I also forgot those little known franchises such as The Terminator and Transformers

Terminator 1 and 2 are classics. The first Transformers movie was great fun. The sequels made my eyes bleed
