What cameras and setups do you use?

I have just bought a Nanguang light package that consists of 3 LED Light heads and stands, it also comes with a photo plats and 6 paper backgrounds that clip to the photo plate (clips supplied) and all comes in a handy carry bag.

There's a Nikon D300. Got a few lenses for that, the usual 18-200mm that all Nikon owners sooner or later buy, a 70-300mm and an 85mm and 105mm macro lens. It sits on Manfrotto tripod when needed. Got the SB-150 and SB-600 flashes too.

There's also a Canon S-90 too.

Lots of other kit (used to be a photographer)

I could go on... but the point is you don't need a fancy camera and equipment, a reasonable camera will be enough to start, better to go digital than buying a second hand 35mm, go auto and try that first, then if you enjoy the photo side of it start reading some photo magazines.

But like many of you, I use my Galaxy S8 for almost everything but final shots.

Canon FTB that I bought while stationed in Panama back in '73 that cost me $300 which was a months paycheck at the time. Did some haggling with store owner about 30 minutes at the time, which was the norm back then. Along with the camera, Canon telephoto lens, Vivitar flash, tri-pod and medium sized leather case to hold everything.

The around '84(?) worked for a company that offered major discounts on things customers returned for what ever reasons, but they all worked just fine. That's when I bought a Canon AE1 for $200? That was just over a weeks take home paycheck. Sold the FTB to Dad for $100 and around 2004, he gave me the FTB back because he'd gone to digital. Became a truck driver, taking the AE-1 with me and thought I had lost it while on the road. Hit a pawn shop and bought the FTB and AE-1 programmable for $75 TOTAL?! Seems everyone's gone to digital. Couple of days later, found my camera and other things. So now I have a TWO Canon FTB's and one each of the AE-1 and AE-1 Programmable cameras.

Then around '02, bought a HP digital camera that was on sale/discontinued at Walmart for $100 which again, was a fair amount of money back then. Went digital because I'd have to wait a week or two before my 35mm film was developed for viewing. Now, there's no place locally that develops film on site. Everything is mailed out. Wore that camera out, bought 2 more for $10 each via Ebay. That's my family/general picture taking camera. Wore out the shoe on the Vivitar flash, bought a Sunburst from a pawn shop. Still have the tri-pod from Panama and ended up buying another from Walmart because I forgot it one time when I went on the road. Used the digital camera to take literally thousands of photos of me going thru every state except Minnesota and Maine.

As for a camcorder, have an 8mm I bought from a pawn shop for $75 about 15 years ago? Same exact camcorder a woman that I worked with who bought one brand new for $300 to take with her on her trip to Paris/Disneyland or what ever it's called over there. Used it when I had a chance to visit Disneyland as a truck driver and during a big family get together and that's been a long time ago. As in Mom and 2 aunts being dead since I recorded this get together.

The digital is great for general/family photo taking, but not for closeups of my built models. Got back into modeling in late 2016 and going for zombie/ apocalypse dioramas in 1/35th scale. Camera works for general overall shots, but detail ones? Forget it. Dug out my cameras and it's been so long, the batteries were dead and I had forgotten how to use it! Almost 3 weeks before finally finding batteries needed here locally. Then had to read/down load the Programmable manual. Used to photograph aircraft as Kodak slides and trade them with people around the world back when I was in the Air Force. Learned to use manual settings instead of the cameras automatic setting for better photo quality. Went to document my works in progress and found my glasses were so bad that I couldn't read the appature setting being shown by the camera! Finally got new glasses the other day and now I'm ready to go.

No fancy flood lights, etc. for me. Put the model on a large sheet of brown wrapping paper, camera w/macro on the tri-pod and manual settings.

My photography equipment is as follows:Nikon D7100 DSLR,Lumix FZ330 Bridge Camera and a Lumix TZ60 compact camera. My model photography is usually done with the FZ330 or the TZ60 as these both have wi-fi. This is my second hobby.

I use my smartphone for photos and videos and for photo editing I use Adobe photoshop and for video editing the premier Adobe cc 2018

Hi folks. I am new here. Just started building models after a lot of years off. I do a lot of photography. I have multiple camera’s but my primary is a Nikon d850 where I will use either a 105 macro or the 24-70 f/2.8 for shooting. I also have a full light tent and studio lights

For models, mostly a Canon Powershot A2300. Sometimes the Samsung 2100 phone. Sort of new is a DJI Osmos Action 3 video camera that I use to make youtubes.
I made better photos when I started in the 70's with my Minolta 202, 35mm. I still have it and film in it. But the $$.
