AK interactive 1.35 VW 1967 Bus

Post by alphabrimble »

Hi, I have just started a build of AK interactive 1967 VW T2 Bus.
Image

The first step was to prime all parts
Image

Image

Then I started airbrushing all the parts on the first 3 pages that were to be painted in steel. This involved building up the engine.
Image

Image

Once these were painted I set to work on building up the front suspension as well as getting all the parts ready from the same pages that needed to be airbrushed black
Image

Once that was complete had to paint up all the other chassis parts on those pages in body colour. I have decided to go for a blue van with white roof so painted these parts in light blue.
Here are all the parts I have painted so far
Image

Image

Next step is to start building these parts together. First I start by building up the engine and then painting the steel pipes that run down the bottom of the van. Once all these parts are dry I glue the engine into the engine bay

I always thought these were a bit bland or unexciting when I was young, but everyone loves them and I can see why NOW.... :D

Thanks. Completed some more today.
The first thing I did today was add the chassis to the floor and the pipe to the front.
Image
Then I attached the front suspension which I built up yesterday
Image
Then I added the driveshafts and rear suspension.
Image

Image

Image

Next it was on to the wheels. First I used AK interactive black rubber marker pens to paint the tyres
Image

Then i used to a chrome pen to paint the hubcaps
Image
Then I used the airbrush to paint the white on the wheels
Image

Image

Then I glued the wheels together
Image

Next I attached the fuel tank to its holder. I had to drill some holes out on this as for some reason the mould had the start of the holes on the wrong side. Then I glued this in place above the engine.
Image

Image

Then I glued on the engine cover and attached the wheels

For some reason, I'm having a vision of one of these sitting beside a period piece of German armor painted in military drab; or in the luftwaffe light blue beside something like an F-104 or Phantom in german markings (smile). Don't think they make the aircraft in 1/35 though....

Regardless, coming along nicely....

Today’s update.
The first thing I did today was paint the main body with the airbrush in blue with a white roof.
Image

Image

Image

Image

I then stuck on the bulk head

Image

After that I made up all the seats so they would be ready for painting.

Image

Once this was done I painted the seats. They are painted in a light grey and a medium grey

Image

Once that was dry I attached the seat base and stuck these into the van

Image

Image

Image

Image

Then it was time to make up the spare wheel and to add this to the van

Image

Image

Then it was time to stick in the gear stick and pedals which I painted black

Image

Image
It was then onto the front panel. For this I had to paint the back of the lights which I used a chrome pen then to stick in the little lightbulbs. After this it was on to attaching this to the front of the van.
Image

Image

Then I started on the dashboard by adding the black and fixing the gauges transfers.

Image

I have also added the clearcoat to the van which will be ready for polishing next week

This weekend I have completed the model.
The first thing I did was build up the dashboard
Image

I then attached the door cards, roof lining, rear view mirrior, rear panel and windows to the van
Image

I then I had to make the holes for the rear lights.

Image

I then built up the sliding door by adding the door card, door handles and windows
Image

Image

While this was drying I built up the roof rack and painted it

Image

Image

When all this was dry I had to attached the body to chassis

Image

Image

Image

I then built up the front spare wheel and attached the front headlights, wipers, indicators and bumper

Image

Image

Image

Image

While all this was drying I built up all the remaining doors by sticking in the door cards and windows

Image

Image

Then it was onto the rear. I painted up the rear lights and attached them as well as attaching the tailgate and engine cover plus the bumper and exhaust pipes.

After this it was just down to attaching the front doors and sliding door

Image

Image

And then it was time to stick the handles, mirrors and roof rack on and it was all complete.
