Model shop in the East Midlands - Yay!

I've joined a local model group here in Leicester and one of the boss guys posted they were having a build day at a local model shop in Hinckley on Saturday just gone. It was the first I had heard of the shop and was thrilled to see its a genuine 'honest-to-god' model shop with a good selection of kits, tools and supplies. Its split between railway stuff and plastic models.

I went along yesterday morning for a look around and its a great place. Kit selection was split between Trumpeter, Academy, Takom, AFV and a few smaller manufacturers. There's loads of diorama stuff (mostly for train layouts) as well as stuff for kids.

I was really impressed. I had a chat with one of the staff and they are looking to expand!! They're active in the community and after school sessions where kids can just come in and build. Great stuff.

Well worth a visit if you're in the Midlands. Prices are great too. How does a 1/35 Takom King Tiger with full interior sound for £59.99?

Still more than we pay, but pretty good considering how far from China you are and the extra tax paid.
I was trying to spot the paint ranges, but couldn't see them and some shops just don't stock paint. Sounds crazy , but I guess there are so many paint ranges and everyone has their preferences it makes it hard for the store owner.
I'd visit this store if I could.

It's not my local store as I don't have one,but the closest one is in Perth 500kms away. However when I do go down to Perth I always visit Hobbytech as it is the closest thing we have to a old style store. With my age I do find it hard to simply glance up and down the shelves in search of goodies. The shelves are high and closely spaced so that customers have to sidle past each other. I'm frequently spotted crawling along the floor in order to peruse the inventory.

It's on the other side of the city from where I stay, but it's worth the effort.

Luckily there's one not that far from ME, only it's closing mid Feb, due to greedy landlords.

Good news is they're moving to far cheaper premises so they're not disappearing, only not in town. Which has pluses and minuses, not in the town so yet another empty shop, got to be able to drive and make special journey, pluses, it's staying open and no parking issues i.e. extortionate car parking fees trying to find a space and no doubt in time some kinda ULEZ charge

We seemed to be plagued with greedy short sighted councils and private landlords and brewery's for that matter, who just want more and more. Another pub closed near me last week and another is about to follow I here. It's now reaching or reached a point where it's going to collapse as businesses can't make any money. Same could be said for private house rental, prices driven up and up by the parasitic letting agents

Nearest real shop to me is in New Haven - Modelworx - which is about an hours drive.... Not managed to get there yet as the OH is not approving of that sort reason for long trips.
