Good glue for tracking?

Post by Rammit »

Hi all, delving into the world of armour modelling with the Trumpeter ASU-85 Mod.1970, can anyone recommend a glue or technique for adding the tracks?

Many thanks

I believe they are plastic track links in that kit, so any plastic glue such as Humbrol poly, Revell Contacta or if you want a thin one, Tamiya Extra Thin or Mr Hobby Cement S are the most common ones.

As Gav mentioned, Tamiya Extra Thin or Mr Hobby Cement S - being capillary glues you can fit the individual links, apply the glue and let the capillary action do it's stuff. Using a straight edge like a metal ruler will help keep everything nice and straight, as well as putting a length of masking tape sticky side up onto your bench. Laying the links onto the masking tape and butting them up to the ruler will again help keep the track in-line, but will be easy to peel off when you're done.

Picked up this tip from someone else's post here on the forum! :th:

I simply glued them together with the glue i always use for plastic - revell contacta professional. i assembled the whole model and then i painted it, even the tracks were put on the tank. sounds a bit terrible i guess but it worked fine!
