Hello All!

Post by Portman »

Hi All,

I've just found your fine looking forum so I thought I'd sign up and say hello...

HELLO!!!! :D

I've been modelling on and off for most of my life, although I've been seriously at it since 2010. My main areas of interest are WWII and Cold War era Aircraft and Armour - in many scales, mainly UK and US, although I do like the odd Mig.

I've also been known to paint old Warhammer miniatures and the occasional 'What-if'.

I'm also partial to the nicely chilled bottle of white wine, glass of mead, and the odd hearty meal - hence why I'm on a diet LOL!

Looking forward to Chatting to you all.

Cheers! :cheers2:

Portman.

Hello and :welcome: to the GSM forum.

When you get a moment please check out the forum guidelines which can be found ---> here

We'd love to see your work & progress but in order to post photos you will need to host them on an external site such as Flickr and then link to them from the forum. Unfortunately the forum currently doesn't have sufficient capacity or bandwidth to host directly uploaded photos.

There is a quick guide on how to use the Flickr integration on the forum ---> here and a couple of step by step guides in here

As well as the forum boards there is a really useful Modeller Toolkit available which can help with paint matching, paint thinning, glue types & a scale calculator that can be found ---> here

We also run occasional group builds through the year so feel free to enter any of those that you like the look of - once they're set up they can be found ---> here

Otherwise take a look around and join in, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Have fun!
Cheers, Neil

Thanks Scott for the warm welcome, and from the lovely British Columbia too - I'm jealous.

I have several kits in WIP at the moment - so I'm already neck deep lol! Mind you, there's always room for another build!

Thanks for the warm welcome Neil. (Swindon wow - I was born in Oxford).

I've had a look through the guidelines. I've been on some forums before so that's all to be expected and perfectly reasonable - It's all about the fun at the end of the day.

I'll have a look through the links you gave me - the toolkit looks fun, I'll have a nose through that. I should be ok posting pictures via image links - lets have a test... (A recent finish)...

Aye, I grew up about midway between Swindon & Oxford and spent a lot of time in the city - the New Theatre (or Apollo, or whatever name it has this week) was a very regular haunt for gigs in my late teens/early 20s.
Cheers, Neil

Cool. I grew up near Burford. We spent a fair bit of time in Oxford and did occasionally make it to Swindon. I do recall once particularly memorable visit with my Great-Grandfather in his Auston Deathtrap - going around the multi-storey car park the wrong way, and ditching a Lotus into the Barrier...
