Thanks. Almost done. Couldn't turn out something mediocre for the Tribute build.

marcowine wrote: Thu May 07, 2026 2:56 pm Absolutely stunning! It's a true work of art.
Thank you chaps.

The paint issue happened a second time after fixing it, but has finally cleaned up nicely after a LOT of careful attention, such as sanding, delicate hand brushing, and polishing, which caused the not fully cured lacquer to be smoothed out. End result is surprisingly and thankfully good.

I'd really like to lay down a few more clear coats to smooth it out more, but I really don't want the strange issue to reoccur a third time, and it's totally acceptable the way it is now.

Once the paint hardens up tomorrow it will get some Tamiya polishing compound treatment to finish it off. Then a few little things and it will be assembled and complete and I can have a lie down.

You pulled it off. I'd be hard pressed to say you ever had an issue given how it looks now. Excellent stuff!

Was really hard work.

I'm calling it done. I'd like to get some better pics, so will add to it during the week. For the meantime, may I present, the fruit of my labour.

I think the time is coming. I think I prefer bike over a car so just need to pull the trigger now :o
